What we know about concussions?
• About 30% are sports related• About 70% are non-sport related• 80% of kids heal by 3-4 week mark• Girls different than boys• Younger the age, longer to heal• COMPLETE Rest is not recommended
What is a concussion?
• A concussion is a disturbance in brain function that occurs after an impact to either the head or the body that causes violent shaking of the brain. • Signs and symptoms of concussion can appear right after
the injury or may not materialize or be noticed until days or weeks after the injury. • It is not diagnosed with a standard MRI or CT scan…• It is a functional brain injury.
