Building Bridges

How Can People of Different Religions Come to

Greater Shared Understanding?

Concordia’s fledgling School of Theology, Ethics, and Leadership

is privileged to host international expert in the field of

Arab-American and Muslim-Christian relations:

Carl Medearis

Carl acts as a catalyst for a number of current movements in the Middle East to promote

peace-making and to promote cultural, political and religious dialog leading toward

reconciliation. He is the author of the acclaimed book on these issues, Muslims,

Christians and Jesus. As well as the intriguing non-fiction text, Tea With Hezbollah,

co-authored with Ted Dekker. His most recent book is Speaking of Jesus: the art of

not-evangelism.

Carl’s experience of living in Beirut, Lebanon for 12 years (with his family) along with

his continued multiple trips annually to the region, and his incredible access to high

ranking leaders from all camps has made him a highly sought after expert in the fields of

Muslim-Christian and Arab-American relations, as well as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Whether Carl is visiting with one of the leaders of Hezbollah, a Congressman from the

US, or an Israeli attorney as they work together on peace initiatives there is no doubt the

conversation is honest, thought provoking, and somehow about Jesus.

Come hear Carl Medearis at:

Call of Duty: How Theology Deals with Zombies

by Dr. Bill Anderson, Professor of Religious Studies, CUCA

The next Philosophy and Religious Studies Colloquium is to

be held Thursday, October 30th at 3:30 pm in HA 015. A

reception will follow at 4:30 pm in the Faculty Lounge

(HA 301). Our topic: This multimedia lecture deals with

zombies from a Christian perspective. It defends the

beauty, integrity and value of Pop Culture as a reflection of God's good-

ness in General Revelation. It demonstrates the complexity and validity

of Religion and Pop Culture Studies with a test case from Kevin Sher-

wood's Call of Duty song "Always Running".

After systematically unpacking the depth of ideas and themes in the

song, the lecture will then redeem the negative ideas of zombie culture

through Theology (Law and Gospel).
