Its takes course to an analytical study of the total system,
generates alternative courses of action and helps to select best
in the given circumstances.
It is used in risk or uncertainty and examines the various
alternative courses of action.
It helps to find solutions to problems.

It uses all the areas and branches of knowledge.
It uses a model of complex situation to handle the
problem. It deals with the problems where time context is
futuristic.
It uses operations research models if the problem is
well defined.

Sensitivity analysis
It helps to test the validity of the solution in variable
conditions. Based on these considerations a rational decision
is made. The sensitive analysis helps to test the validity of theoptimal solution under changed conditions.
It helps to test the solutions on the principle of utility.
Uses techniques such as payoff analysis, simulation, modelling
and etc.
