AucklandAuckland is the largest city in New Zealand with a population of over one million people. With more boats per capita than almost anywhere else in the world, Auckland is known as the ‘City of Sails’. WellingtonWellington is the capital city of New Zealand and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) hub. Diploma in Advanced Network Engineering - NZQA Level 7 Diploma

This advanced level qualification allows you to place yourself in the strongest possible position for your IT career. Ideal for those looking to advance or start their career in networking design, management and security. This qualification includes the design, installation and management of computer networks and systems network security, troubleshooting, planning, implementation and maintenance of various security systems including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Infrared and VoWLAN. It also includes training in virtualisation technologies and Exchange Server

Computer Power pioneered a unique ‘student-centred learning’ model which is used at all our institutes. Our self-directed learning style has been continuously proven over forty-two years by more than 31,000 graduates and our highly successful industry placement with employers.

Self-directed learningThe self-directed learning style offered by Computer Power allows you to take control of your own learning. You will attend the institute on a personalised schedule agreed at enrolment. All the resources you require are supplied for you and instructors are on hand to support you in working through your qualification.

Unlike a traditional school, you will not be learning in a classroom with one teacher, taking you through a topic at a time. Instead you will be working on an open training floor at your own work station. This means that you can study at your own direction and not be held back by students who are learning more slowly. Most students find that there are topics that they find much easier than others. This means that you have the opportunity to fast-track through easier courseware and spend more time on more challenging courseware. Studying full time within our business environment reflects a normal work day on the job. This is based on a campus study shift of five hours with another two hours either at home or the library each day.

Complaints & Breaches of The Code Of PracticeWhen an international student has a complaint in relation to a breach of the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, Computer Power has a process (displayed on the Computer Power notice board and included in your student information at registration) to work through the complaint internally.

External Grievance ProcedureIf you feel your concerns have not been resolved by Computer Power’s internal complaint process, the complaint can be taken to the International Education Appeal Authority (who enforce the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students).

Conditions of AcceptanceOn satisfactorily completing the enrolment procedure and meeting the entry requirements, International Students will be accepted in writing. If your application can be accepted conditionally we will do so and issue a ‘Letter of Offer’ to assist you with your student VISA application. Once all of the conditions have been met, we will issue a confirming ‘Letter of Acceptance’ stating your enrolment has been processed and unconditionally accepted.

ImmigrationFull details of immigration requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available from Immigration New Zealand, and can be viewed on their website at www.immigration.govt.nz

Eligibility for Health ServicesMost international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at www.moh.govt.nz

Accident InsuranceThe Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents, and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at www.acc.co.nz

Medical and Travel InsuranceInternational students (including group students) must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand.

AccommodationComputer Power is committed to ensuring that the accommodation arranged as part of your program is of the highest quality and that it provides a safe environment for your stay in New Zealand. For assistance with accommodation please see the Student Services Department at Computer Power. Student Services are open Monday to Friday during normal business hours. Student Services will be able to provide assistance with all matters relating to accommodation required under the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. Computer Power will not provide accommodation services but will do so via arrangements with accredited Accommodation Agents who adhere to the requirements of the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

International students requiring assistance in sourcing accommodation must identify this at the time their enrolment application is accepted. Payment for accommodation must take place at the same time as fee payment.

Accommodation packages are available in prepaid ‘blocks’ of four weeks minimum only. Should a student source alternative accommodation within a prepaid accommodation ‘block,’ no refund of accommodation costs will be made.

Contact with FamilyAs part of your enrolment, Computer Power will require a contact name, address and phone number for your parents and an emergency contact person. Prior to the acceptance of our enrolment Computer Power must have these details and establish communication arrangements with parents that can be used in the case of an emergency.

Withdrawal and Refund Procedures Computer Power Institute’s refund policy complies with Section 236A of the Education Act 1989, for international students.

Students that do not commence their tuition, or withdraw from a course within the first eight days Computer Power will refund all fees paid less an amount equal to the lower of the following amounts: 10% of the payment or $500.

Students who withdraw after the eighth day of the start of the course will forfeit all monies paid.

Students will be entitled to a full refund if a visa application has been denied.

In the instance that an international student withdraws from their programme of study within eight days of course commencement, the refund of all fees paid less an amount equal to the lower of either 10% of the payment or $500 will be paid directly to the home country bank account from which they came. CPI will notify immigration that the student has been withdrawn. Student fees will in no case be transferred to an alternative provider in New Zealand. Student refunds take a minimum of 30 working days to process.

All refund requests must be in writing to the “International Student Manager.”

Dress Code Casual business wear All our instructors, staff and students embrace our professional casual business wear dress code as a standard. We frequently have client employers and industry people visiting our premises and conducting interviews at short notice so it is important that Computer Power students can present an ‘interview ready’ professional presentation when attending our campuses.

Appropriate Casual Business Wear:Trousers or skirts in any fabric except denim (i.e. no denim), jerseys or cardigans, polo shirts, button down shirts and clean business shoes.

Inappropriate Casual Wear:Strictly no jeans of any colour or type unless notified (e.g. through a Mufti or Jeans week), leggings, shorts, cargo pants, T-Shirts, Tracksuits, Tank Tops or Crop Tops, Hoodies, Caps or Beanies, any clothing with excessive skin showing (e.g. midriff tops), shirts with inappropriate or offensive slogans, jandals (footwear thongs) and trainers or sandshoes.

■ For Diploma Level 5 – completion of High School.

■ For Diploma Level 6 - completion of Computing Certificate Level 4 (or higher)or equivalent.

■ For Diploma Level 7 - completion of Computing Diploma Level 5 (or higher) or equivalent.

■ For level 5 and 6 Diplomas minimum IELTS (Academic) 5.5 or equivalent is required.For Level 7 Diploma, IELTS (Academic) 6.0 or equivalent is required. Diploma Students who are unable to provide evidence of IELTS level or equivalent will need to provide alternative evidence including minimum of 60% in English at High School level.

■ A ‘pass’ in our online Computer Power Entry Assessment.

■ Minimum age of 18 years.

■ For any Diploma Level 6 or 7, previous IT work experience or IT education is required. Candidates will need to have successfully completed the minimum Computing qualification level requirement.

Attach certified copies of all academic qualifications including school reports, official examination certificates and evidence of English proficiency (IELTS or equivalent).■Your present name must be added to copies of qualifications obtained under a

former name. ■Certified translations must accompany documents that are not in English. ■Include a copy of your passport and two passport-sized photographs of yourself,

with the Application Form.

If your application is successful, we will send you a formal ‘Letter of Offer’(offer of place).

At this stage, you need to pay your fees in New Zealand dollars by international bank draft, made payable to Computer Power (NZ) Ltd. (Note: Students in mainland China and India must apply for their student visa and gain approval in principle before sending fees).

Complete the Computer Power Accommodation Form for either homestay or private accommodation. (Note: Unconditional ‘Letter of Acceptance’ will not be issued without these details). Once we have received your fees, we will send you a formal ‘Letter of Acceptance’which acknowledges payment and includes information about orientation and course commencement arrangements. You will need to present this acceptance letter when you apply for your visa at a New Zealand diplomatic mission. A minimum of four weeks should be allowed before the start of the course for the issue of a student visa.
