Computer Lab Using Audacity to Record

Step 1 Headsets - Plug in completely, with pink on left and green on right

- Make sure volume is up on the headset cord. * Make sure the headset is plugged in before opening the Audacity program.

Step 2 Opening Audacity 1) Go to the “Start” Menu (left bottom of screen)

2) Click “All Programs”

Using Audacity • A Welcome/Help page may open. Close that.

• Check that “front microphone” is selected.

Recording • To record, use the red circle record button.

• To stop, use the tan square stop button.

• To listen, use the green triangle play button.

Save Recording Step 1

• To save your recording go to “File” in the top left corner and select “Export”.

Save Recording Step 2 • Click on the “Desktop” icon

• Name your file

• **Save Type As “MP3 Files”**

• Click “Save”

• Click “OK” in the Metadata Box that pops up.

Uploading to Google Drive Step 1 • Login to your Google Drive account

• Click on the Red “New” box and select “File Upload”

Uploading to Google Drive Step 2 • From the “Desktop”, you can find your MP3 file and select it.

• After it uploads, you can then “Share” it with your teacher. There are two ways: select “share” in the bottom right of the upload. Or, you can open the file in Google Drive and click the Person Icon to share.

Type in Your Teacher’s Email and “Share”
