TRANSMISSION CONTROL PROTOCOL
The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is one of thecore protocols
of the Internet Protocol Suite. TCP is oneof the two original
components of the suite,
complementing the Internet Protocol (IP), and thereforethe entire suite is commonly referred to as TCP/IP. TCPprovides reliable, ordered delivery of a stream of bytesfrom a program on one computer to another program onanother computer. TCP is the protocol that major Internetapplications such as the World Wide Web, email, remoteadministration and file transfer rely on. Otherapplications, which do not require reliable data streamservice, may use the User Datagram Protocol (UDP), whichprovides a datagram service that emphasizes reducedlatency over reliability.

The Internet is a global system of interconnectedcomputer networks that use the standard Internet protocolsuite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. Itis a network of networks that consists of millions ofprivate, public, academic, business, and governmentnetworks, of local to global scope, that are linked by abroad array of electronic, wireless and opticalnetworking technologies. The Internet carries an
extensive range of information resources and services, such as the inter-linked hypertext documents of the WorldWide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to supportemail.
Most traditional communications media includingtelephone, music, film, and television are reshaped orredefined by the Internet, giving birth to new servicessuch as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Internet
Protocol Television (IPTV). Newspaper, book and otherprint publishing are adapting to Web site technology, orare reshaped into blogging and web feeds. The Internethas enabled or accelerated new forms of humaninteractions through instant messaging, Internet forums, and social networking. Terminology
Internet is a short form of the technical term
internetwork,[2] the result of interconnecting computernetworks with special gateways or routers. The Internetis also often referred to as the Net.The term the Internet, when referring to the entireglobal system of IP networks, has been treated as aproper noun and written with an initial capital letter. In the media and popular culture, a trend has alsodeveloped to regard it as a generic term or common nounand thus write it as "the internet", withoutcapitalization. Some guides specify that the word shouldbe capitalized as a noun but not capitalized as an
adjective.
