Preface
Welcome to the Proceedings of the 2nd National Conference on Computational Control Systems
and Optimization - CCSO – 2013 which was held in Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology,
Bangalore, 10th – 11th May, 2013.
Instrumentation and Control engineering applications is the field of study concerned with
measurement, feedback and control and other electronic devices to analyze and solve engineering
problems. Control, Optimization and Industrial Automation play an increasingly important role in
the global scenario. Engineers strive to combine automated devices with mathematical and
organizational tools to create complex systems for a rapidly expanding range of applications and
human activities. Technological advancements in process monitoring, control and industrial
automation over the past decades have contributed greatly to improve the productivity of all
manufacturing industries throughout the world. For automated industrial operations, Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Control System (DCS) play a major role in
control system with applications in managing large-scale applications.
The CCSO 2013 conference provided a forum for engineers and scientists in academia, industry,
and government, students of Instrumentation Technology, Electronics and Communication,
Telecommunication, Medical Electronics, Biomedical Instrumentation, Electrical, Mathematics and
related programs to address the most innovative research and development including technical
challenges and to present and discuss their ideas, results, work in progress, and experience on all
aspects of controls, Instrumentation, Signal Processing and Optimization and applications. The
Primary aim of the conference was to promote the research and development activities in the
cutting edge technologies, which included the following topics (but not limited to) for the
presentation/ Exhibition and demonstration
Controls system, Instrumentation
Signal Processing, Optimization
Biomedical Instrumentation, Image Processing
Communication Protocols
Process Control and Automation
Mathematical Modeling and Simulation
Numerical Methods and its Application
Linear Algebra

Conference featured key note address, presentation of contributed & invited papers, and student
Project Exhibition and industry product demonstration Sessions. Eminent speakers from academic
institutions, industries and R&D organizations delivered expert lectures. 4 invited talks along with
the key note address covered the different areas of the conference. 15 parallel sessions for the
presentations of the research papers formed the heart of the conference and provided ample
opportunity for discussion. Industrial showcases and student project/poster presentations were
distributed across the days of the conference to widen access to these sessions.
Of the total number of paper submissions, 80% were accepted to be included in this proceedings
volume. These papers, produced after a highly selective review process by the programme
committee members or external reviewers, represent the state of the art techniques in control and
optimization. All of these papers and topics not only provided novel ideas, new results, work in
progress, and state-of-the-art techniques in the field of the conference topics, but also stimulated
the future research activities in the area of Control and Optimization engineering and applications.
Credit for the quality of the Conference Proceedings goes first and foremost to the authors. They
contributed a great deal of effort and creativity to produce this work, and I am very thankful that
they chose CCSO 2013 as the place to present it. Credit also goes to the Programme Committee
members and external reviewers who donated enormous amount of time from busy schedules to
carefully read and evaluate the submissions.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee I would like to express my gratitude for the financial
support received from TEQIP II, SPFU as well as industrial exhibitors. This support enabled CCSO
2013
The success of this conference was the result of the hard and excellent work of many others,
such as Program and Technical Committee members, external reviewers and Publication Chairs,
faculty and students under a very tight schedule. We are also grateful to the keynote and invited
speakers for accepting the invitation and attended the conference with enthusiasm. Last but not the
least; we hope you enjoyed the conference program, and the beautiful attractions of Bangalore,
Karnataka.
The next Conference – CCSO -2015 – will be held in April/May 2015. We are looking forward to
meet you again.
