Weixin was very excited and quickly got ready a stapler, a pair of scissors and a roll of sticky tape. His mother took out the old newspapers and some tins of paint. Weixin’s mother rolled the newspaper into tubes and Weixin helped her to staple them into rings. They made seven rings of varying sizes. Using the largest one as the base, they pushed one ring into another to make a trunk. Having done that, they cut the ends of the rolls of newspapers to make leaves. When they had made sufficient leaves, they pushed the leaves into the top of the trunk, securing each with some sticky tape. Finally, Weixin painted his paper palm tree. He painted the trunk brown and the leaves green.
