Composing a Digital Portfolio Using Blogger

Introduction

Blogger.com is one of the most popular blogging software programs on the Internet today. Its popularity is no mistake, it was the first major blogging website available and it’s also completely free to use. Blogger’s features and components have continued to grow since being purchased by Google.

ProceduresAccount Creation. Before getting started with Blogger, you must first create an account that will serve you in hosting all of your works. One great feature of Blogger is the ability to quickly create an account using an existing Google/Gmail account. The same email address and password to your Google/Gmail account will create an account in Blogger for you very quickly. The steps to creating this account are below:

1. Navigate your browser (Google Chrome, Safari, etc.) to www.blogger.com2. Log in with your existing Google account. If you do not have an account, you can

click on the “Sign Up” link on the top-right corner of the page. The “Sign Up” page will ask you basic questions necessary for account creation.

3. Congratulations! Your new Blogger profile has been created and is ready for use. Your screen should look similar to the one below:

Displaying documents. The purpose of our Blogger is to show off our creative works. Others use Blogger as a diary, journal, or to simply just write about various things. To display our work, we need to do a few things:

1. First, we need to create a new blog. To do this, simply click on “New Blog” on the left hand side of your page (see figure 1-1).

2. The next screen will allow you to name your blog, create a URL/link to your blog, and it will also let you select one of the standard templates. These choices are completely at your discretion.

3. After making your decisions from step 2, you simply click on “Create New Post” (If you are using the HTML page, you want to click on the pencil icon in figure 2-1.)

4. The next page will show a page that looks similar to any word processor. To show off any of your works, just simply copy and paste it into the text editor in Blogger. Blogger does a great job of keeping most, if not all, of your formatting.
