Combined Ixia and Dynatrace Solution Can Monitor Physical and Virtual Networks of Any Size

Ixia network visibility architecture complements the Dynatrace Data Center Real User Monitor (DC RUM) product by extending access to all needed physical and virtual infrastructure traffic. The joint solution provides complete visibility into network traffic in a highly scalable, easy to deploy system. Dynatrace DC RUM monitors and analyzes end-user experience, allowing the operator to understand and manage real user experience for all transactions through the Web, Application, and Database tiers.

Solution

Ixia's visibility solution works in concert with Dynatrace DC RUM to monitor the customer’s network. The Ixia Network Packet Brokers passively directs out-of-band network traffic from multiple access points such as SPANs, taps /Virtual taps (also sold by Ixia) in the network and sends them to Dynatrace DC RUM for analysis. Traffic is aggregated from all needed access points in the physical and virtual network, and corresponding packets and flows can be forwarded to DC RUM to provide comprehensive visibility and to address shortages in monitoring access points.

The Ixia solution helps Dynatrace DC RUM work at peak efficiency by filtering out unneeded traffic and removing duplicate packets. Ixia's visibility architecture also allows traffic from a single network access point to be shared with multiple monitoring tools, this eliminates the SPAN/tap shortages that occur when another tool is attached to a needed access point.

Ixia's Visibility Architecture Optimizes Network Access to DynaTrace and Other Monitoring Tools

Ixia's visibility architecture complements the Dynatrace DC RUM solution by providing access to all needed physical and virtual network traffic. Ixia's visibility solution sits between access points in the network that require monitoring and the Dynatrace DC RUM. Ixia Network Packet Brokers simultaneously aggregate traffic from multiple SPANs, taps / Virtual taps (also sold by Ixia) in the network and directs corresponding packets and Netflow records to Dynatrace DC RUM for analysis. This approach provides efficient access to asymmetric traffic across large heterogeneous networks. Ixia visibility architecture also helps the Dynatrace DC RUM consume fewer resources by filtering out traffic not needed for analysis before it can get to the DC RUM.

Ixia visbility architecture allows for the sharing of traffic from a network access point with multiple monitoring tools. This capability eliminates the SPAN/tap and virtual tap shortages that occur when another tool is attached to a needed access point. Additionally, by removing duplicate packets, Ixia's solution can enhance the throughput and storage capacity of DC RUM.

The Ixia visibility architecture automation capability easily works with the Dynatrace solution for a range of applications to:

· Load-balance traffic across multiple DC RUM input ports or devices

· Tighten filters dynamically, as needed, to ensure that key transactions are analyzed when total traffic spikes
