Ruedrich (seated as former Chair)
Regarding: Publicly advocated for the candidacy of independent
write-in candidate over the Republican nominee in
the 2010 US Senate election; Used his position as Alaska
Republican Party Chair to influence the outcome
of the post-election court challenge.
Attachments: Court Case: Miller v. Campbell inclusive of
Ruedrich's sworn affidavit entered on behalf of Intervenor Lisa
Murkowski (begins on p.17).
Charges Against: Randy Ruedrich (Sitting Member of Central
Committee and claimed ED of ARP.)
Charges: During the post-election court challenge following the
2010 general election, Randy Ruedrich acting as State
Party Chair, submitted a sworn affidavit of dubious veracity on
behalf of the write-in candidate to aid and
abet the case against the Republican nominee.
Outcome Requested: Removal from the Alaska Republican Party
State Central Committee and any other official role with
the Party, to include seizure of the Party email list which Mr.
Ruedrich continues to use.
Facts: During the post-election court challenge following the
2010 general election, Randy Ruedrich acting as State Party
Chair, submitted a sworn affidavit of dubious veracity on behalf
of the write-in candidate to aid and abet the case against the
Republican nominee. This action was undertaken a full month
before the election was certified, and while the outcome was
still uncertain. For purposes of context, it is important to
note that the Alaska District Federal Court had placed a stay
on
certification while serious issues in State law were
adjudicated.
Statement: This is a non-trivial event, clearly in violation of
Party Rules, and a matter of public record.
GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL:
ARTICLE X - REMOVAL FROM REPUBLICAN PARTY OFFICE
Any person holding elected ARP office may be removed from office
for any of the following reasons:
Section 1: Grounds for Removal
(a) Engagement in any activities prohibited by or contrary to
these rules or RNC Rules.
(d) Promotion of the candidacy of anyone other than the
Republican primary winner in a partisan contest.
CANDIDACY PROMOTED:Lisa Murkowski, write-in candidate for US
Senate
REPUBLICAN NOMINEE:Joe Miller, who had won the primary (largest
turnout in State history) by a margin of 2006 votes, receiving more
than 55
thousand votes. For purposes of perspective, Miller received
more than 10 thousand more votes than Lisa Murkowski did in
her landslide victory over Mike Miller in the 2004 primary.
