Recognition Express is delighted to team up with the UK’s leading road safety charity, Brake, for the fourth year running to host its annual Design a Road Safety Banner Competition. We are inviting pupils aged 4-11 from your school to enter this competition by creating a banner design to help raise awareness about road safety. There will be twelve prize-winners across the country and if your school wins your design will be printed onto a full size outdoor banner to display outside your school during Road Safety Week (19-25 November) to raise awareness about the importance of driving slowly. Winning schools will also receive 300 high visibility drawstring bags each and the winning designers will be presented with a personalised award. COMPETITION Design a road safety banner Why not incorporate Brake’s official Road Safety Week theme for 2012: “Slower Speeds = Happy People” into your design? Or one of the following: “Please Drive Safely”, “20 is Plenty”, “Kids Say Slow Down” – with the emphasis on getting drivers to slow down outside of schools! We are looking for bold, eye catching designs. Remember your road safety banner will be displayed outside the school premises, so make sure it attracts attention! It’s easy to enter: On the reverse of this leaflet you will find a design template which you can photocopy and complete for each design entry. Free Brake affiliate scheme membership for every school: Each school that takes part in this year’s competition will receive a free subscription to the Brake school affiliate scheme. Membership benefits include: educator news bulletins with updates on new Brake initiatives and campaigns, links to a range of road safety resources, downloadable Road Safety Week e-action pack, including downloadable posters, guidance, hints, tips and case studies to help your school run events and activities during the week. Deadline for entries is Friday 19 th October 2012. The winners will be announced prior to Road Safety Week 19-25 November 2012. N.B. Winning schools and pupils who submit designs will be asked to participate in local publicity.
