How to get to the conference venue

Potsdam is located southwest of the German capital of Berlin and can be easily reached by

various means of transport. Potsdam and Berlin are adjacent cities and have a coordinated

metropolitan public transport system (Verkehrsverbund Berlin Brandenburg / VBB). Tickets

for zones “Berlin ABC” are valid in both cities. Here you can find more information on your

From Berlin to Potsdam with the regional train or S-Bahn

Please be aware that due to construction work some stops between the train stations of

Charlottenburg, Zoologischer Garten and Ostbahnhof will be closed from 29 August until 1

November 2015. You can find more information here:

In regards to the route to the University’s campus and conference venue this means that:

From 9 September to 6 October 2015 the trains RB 21 and/or RB 22 as well as the RE 1 and

the RE 7 will only depart from Charlottenburg train station. From 7 October until 1

November these trains will leave from Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof. At no time during this

period will the trains stop at train stations “Berlin, Hauptbahnhof “ and “Berlin,

Friedrichstrasse”

From 7 October you can travel from the train station “Zoologischer Garten Bhf” with

regional train RE 1 (towards Brandenburg/Magdeburg Hauptbahnhof) and the RB 21

(towards Wustermark, Bahnhof or towards Potsdam Golm Bhf) to the train station “Potsdam,

Park Sanssouci Bhf”, from where it is around an 8 minute walk to reach the University

campus and conference venue.

Berlin to Potsdam. We have marked the respective locations of the airports in Berlin as well

as the locations of the recommended hotels (Kongresshotel am Templiner See and

Train connections from Berlin to the Kongresshotel

Potsdam am Templiner See

The regional train Regionalexpress RE 1 in the direction of Brandenburg or Magdeburg

departs on 6 October from the train station Bahhhof Charlottenburg to Potsdam

Hauptbahnhof (travelling time 14 minutes). From 7 October the following trains travel from

“Berlin Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof”: the regionalexpress RE 1 in the direction of

Brandenburg or Magdeburg and the RB 21 in the direction of Wustermark, Bahnhof. The

travelling time from Berlin “Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof” to “Potsdam Hauptbahnhof”

is about 16-18 minutes.

The city train S-Bahn S7 connects Berlin and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Travel time is about

35 minutes.

From Potsdam Hauptbahnhof bus 695 (in the direction of Bahnhof Potsdam Pirschheide),

bus 631 (in the direction of Werder Havel Bhf.), tram 91 (in the direction of Bahnhof

Potsdam Pirschheide) or the regional train RB 23 (in the direction of Michendorf, Bahnhof)

all go to the station Bahnhof Pirschheide.

From the Kongresshotel to the Conference Venue

The Kongresshotel Potsdam am Templiner See is located at:

Am Luftschiffhafen 1, 14471 Potsdam.

The Kongresshotel is a few minutes’ walk from „Bahnhof Pirschheide“ and is almost 3 km

away from the Conference Venue „Potsdam, Neues Palais“ or „Potsdam, Campus

Train connection from Berlin to the Schlossgarten Hotel

am Park von Sannsouci

The regional train Regionalexpress RE 1 in the direction of Brandenburg or Magdeburg

35 minutes.

From Potsdam Hauptbahnhof you can catch/take bus 695 (in the direction of Bahnhof

Potsdam Pirschheide), bus 605 (in the direction of Potsdam, Wissenschaftspark Golm), bus

606 (in the direction of Alt-Golm) to Bahnhof Park Sanssouci. You can also take the Tram

91 (in the direction of Potsdam, Pirschheide) to the stop Schloss Charlottenhof. From there

you can also reach the Schlossgarten Hotel in a few minutes on foot.

From the Schlossgarten Hotel to the Conference Venue

The Schlossgarten Hotel am Park von Sanssouci is located at:

Geschwister-Scholl-Str.41a, 14471 Potsdam

The Schlossgarten Hotel (http://www.schlossgartenhotel-potsdam.de/) is a few minutes from

„Bahnhof Park Sanssouci“ and is around 650 m from the Conference Venue „Potsdam,

Neues Palais“.

From the Schlossgarten Hotel to the Conference Venue

By plane

Berlin has two airports:

Tegel (TXL)

Schönefeld (SXF)

You can take a taxi from Airport Berlin-Tegel to the Conference Venue in Potsdam. It will

cost approximately 60,00 EUR. You can also use public transport. Here you can find more

information on your route from Berlin to Potsdam (http://www.vbb.de/en/index.html). The

fare from Berlin to Potsdam costs 3,30 EUR for a one-way-ticket and 7,40 EUR for a daily

ticket. You should buy the Berlin ABC-Ticket. For public transport within Potsdam the one-

From the airports to the Berlin (Potsdam) trains

Tegel Airport (TXL): Bus X9 or 109 will take you to the railway station "Zoologischer

There is a direct train connection RB 22 (Mon - Fri hourly, Sat/Sun every two hours)

between Schönefeld Airport (SXF) and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Get off at Bahnhof Park

Sanssouci if you want to go directly to the Schlossgarten Hotel am Park Sanssouci. To get to

the Kongresshotel Potsdam am Templiner See you should get off Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.

There you should take the tram 91 or bus 695 in the direction of Potsdam Pirschheide

Bahnhof. From there it is only a few minutes’ walk to the hotel.

Alternatively, you can also take the city train S-Bahn S45 in the direction of S+U

Bundesplatz (Berlin) to S-Schöneberg. After that, take the S-Bahn 1 in the direction S

Wannsee Bhf (Berlin) to last stop on the line. There you have to change to S-Bahn S7 in the

direction of Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. For other possible connections by train see the

By train

Berlin and Potsdam have good train connections. There are ICE connections from many large
