INTRODUCTION

Since its foundation, Firmenich has always placed a high priority onresearch geared towards the discovery of new fragrance ingredients.These ingredients have been made available to the market over the yearsand have been incorporated by our clients into their successes.The Firmenich Fragrance Ingredients Catalogue comes with additionalusage information, aimed at helping the user obtain best effects with ouringredients.

STABILITY & PERFORMANCE TABLE

In this edition we have added recommended application lists, stabilityindications, typical dosage ranges, substantivity data and other pertinentremarks per ingredient featured in this catalogue.

These tables are a guide and are intended to assist perfumers whenchoosing ingredients for creation.

RECOMMENDEDAPPLICATIONSis a non-exhaustive list of applications whereour perfumers have found value in creating with the given ingredient, atthe indicated dosage range.

STABILITYis the result of tests carried out in in-house bases over a periodof 1 month at 40C. Detergent refers to powder detergent containinga bleaching agent. Softener stands for standard concentration fabricconditioner (fabric softener). APC stands for All Purpose Cleaner.

Results are given using the following code:

Under SUBSTANTIVITY& REMARKSwe indicate the relativeperformance of the given ingredient per application. Wetanddryrelate to the residual fragrance intensity in the following way:

> for shampoo: on freshly washed wet hair and 6 hour dry hair> for detergent: on freshly machine washed cloth and 1 day dry cloth> for softener: on freshly machine washed cloth and 1 day dry cloth

For shower gel: bloomis an indication of the fragrance intensityperceived when the ingredient in the shower gel base is mixed with warmwater.

For soap foamrelates to the fragrance intensity perceived when usingthe soap bar, dry handrelates to the fragrance intensity perceived froma towel dried had after washing with standard soap containing the giveningredient.

Candle: Cold Waxrefers to fragrance intensity perceived from the waxof a non-lit candle. Burning refers to fragrance intensity perceived fromthe lit candle.

Firmenich has created and offered to the market speciality bases for over100 years. The original concept of the speciality base was to facilitate theuse of either very powerful ingredients or to simplify the use of interestingbut difficult to use ingredients.

Reconstitutions of natural products also became a major raison-dtre forspeciality bases, especially in the light of ever growing demand for stableprices and consistent quality.

Our speciality bases have found considerable success in the market and,upon the request of our customers and the ever changing national andinternational regulatory requirements, we have made modified versionsof them to be fully compliant.

Today we still offer a full range of speciality bases which are listed onthe following pages. For simplicity we have only given the name of thespeciality base followed by its olfactive description. In certain cases where

multiple versions exist, numerical and alphabetical suffixes, which relatedto modifications, have been removed.
