Crossrail is Europe’s largest infrastructure project, estimated to add £42bn to the UK economy. It would play a major role in supporting and enhancing growth and regeneration across London and the South-East. Bringing forward the regeneration areas such as Abbey Wood, Southall and Maidenhead.

The development will make it easier to travel around London and the south-east and reduce congestion. It will improve accessibility higher development densities, more sustainable development and is in easy reach of the Capitals major commercial and business district Heathrow, West End, The City and Canary Wharf. It is estimated to bring an extra 1.5 million people to within 45 minutes of central London and help to drive regeneration along the length of the route

The new line will support delivery of over 57,000 new houses, 10 new stations where there are major regeneration opportunities.

Abbey Wood:

Abbey Wood is being reimagined with Crossrail on its way. This time in three years, you’ll be able to hit the West End in 25 minutes, Heathrow in 51. It’s boom time in Abbey Wood. Ish. There’s already been a minor scandal in a property development trying to flog “luxury” flats to foreign investors, as if Abbey Wood were Belgravia. A couple of hundred homes are coming, a new square, a hotel and, cue drum roll, a Sainsbury’s. But for now, Abbey Wood remains one of the few places in the capital where you can buy a three- or four-bedroom house, yes house, for £300,000, yes £300,000. For now.

Prices Flats Flats had an average sold price of £225,201 and semi-detached properties averaged at £348,536. Abbey Wood, with an overall average price of £311,853 was more expensive than nearby Belvedere (£279,838), but was cheaper than Falconwood (£354,129) and Welling (£361,497).

Prices Houses The current average value in Abbey Wood in December 2016 is £300,469. This has increased 3.38% from September 2016. Terraced properties sold for a current average value of £402,735 and semi-detached properties valued £500,532. In the past year property prices in Abbey Wood have increased 7.43%.

CrossrailLondon’s newest line is bringing with it

education and property prospects

New Developments Cross Quarter is a mixed-use development north of Abbey Wood station in Harrow Manor Way. The first phase includes a large new branch of Sainsbury’s opening at the end of July, 32 flats that are all now sold, space for a library and coffee shop and a new public square. The next phase has planning permission for 190 flats, space for start-up businesses and a children’s nursery. However, the new owners Peabody are likely to put in a fresh planning application. The prospect has sent the district into a spin with a raft of regeneration plans. Mayor Boris Johnson has promised an £80 million financial package for two new housing zones. The two governing councils, Greenwich and Bexley, are working with housing association Peabody to launch 3,000 new homes to be built over the next 10 years, many of which will be “affordable”.

Oxford v CambridgePros and cons of living, studying and investing

The two cities have been rivals on the water since 1829, but the competition in boats is only one way in which Oxford and Cambridge pit themselves against each other. When it comes

to visiting, living, investing or sending your children to school, how do these two Boat Race competitors compare?
