Compass LearningHow can I use this in my classroom?

Have you struggled to find resources to truly differentiate for each child?

Have you been able to collect data on each individual child as they progress towards his or her academic goals?

Dont fret there is help on the way! INTRODUCING

What is compass Learning?Compass Learning is an online K-12 curriculum that is available to students in Grant County.

This program has content that covers Reading, Language Arts, Math, and Science.

The program was designed to be a self-paced program that is individualized for each child that is enrolled.

The program consists of tutorials, learning activities, games, and quizzes for students to practice and progress towards their learning goals.

How does it work?Step 1. Students will take the NWEA MAP test. Students will be assigned an overall RIT score as well as scores for individual areas (reading foundations, number and operations, etc.)

Step 2. Compass Learning will merge the scores from the MAP test with its system and will create an individualized learning path for each child based off of their MAP scores. Students will get a learning path for each individual area.

Step 3. Students will log on to Compass Learning with their username and password and begin their learning path. The system will track their progress and allow you as a teacher to check their data.

Lets take a deeper look

Log in with your username and password.

Creating a classTo create a class, click on the tab My Students on the top row.

I have blacked out my students names for privacy purposes. When you first log into Compass Learning, you will not have any names on the screen until you add them.

Assign your class a name and choose your grade level/subject area. You may also add additional teachers to your class (Resource Teachers, Title 1 Teachers etc.)

How to add students to your class

You must type in your students one at a time to find them in the Compass Learning system. Once you find their name, click add to class and they will be added.

Setting up your class

You may now take some time to set up your classes and add your students!

contentSince we utilize the NWEA MAP Assessment, this offers a very beneficial component with Compass Learning. Compass will synchronize with the MAP RIT scores to create an individualized learning path for each student based off of his or her strengths and weaknesses.

You can see the individual RIT bands for each content area. This is based off of this childs MAP scores.
