Both jingles are very similar as they are 11 seconds long however onthe OCR jingle it sounds as if there has been editing on the ‘You’relistening to Oldham Community Radio 99.7 FM news update’ maybe anecho. Another positive about OCR jingle is that it is flowing because the

jingle flows straight into the sound bed which makes it better for the

listeners. However, the sound bed only last 6seconds whereas mysound bed is all the way through the news bulletin which maybe toolong as the dialogue isn’t as clear as the OCR is. Also, the OCR bulletindirectly address the audience in their jingle ‘You are’ which is a goodgreeting in contrast to my jingle me and my group just say ‘OldhamCommunity Radio news bulletin’ which doesn’t direct anybody is just

shows the station ident. Both closures have an outro however OCR ismore upbeat as it goes ‘That’s the latest’ then the presenters name, which she presents with an upbeat tone. However, my outro addressesthe audiences as thanks them for listening which is polite and informsthe listeners when the next update is which OCR doesn’t. This makesmy bulletin come across as typical because most local radios have a

jingle/greeting/outro etc. therefore it is ordinary.

The scripting of OCR news bulletin has clearly used the

inverted triangle as they have put the 5W’s at the beginning

of the new bulletin. They have also used kiss and tell (kept

it short and simple) this is what the listeners prefer because

they receive the information quickly. This is similar to mynews bulletin as me and my group have used the 5W’s in

the opening line to inform the listener of what is happening.

Also both bulletins have mentioned to the listener’s what

time it is in a formal address. The language used in both of the bulletin is typical as the 3c’s clear concise and correct

is used and this is what the listener’s wants to here.

The presenter on the OCR news bulletin has a formal voiceand pronounces her words clearly which is better for thelistener’s as they can understand it better. However, thepresenter on my bulletin is me and I believe I have a

common accent and therefore don’t pronounce my wordsas clear as the presenter on OCR does. However, this isgood because it’s similar accent to those who will belistening to the bulletin which makes it a typical radiobulletin. On both of our clips there is a women presenting.

However, you can tell that the women in the OCR bulletin isolder than me as my voice sound a lot higher pitched. Thispart is typical as you would expect an adult to presentingthe news to an audience not a teenager. Also the OCRpresenter seems to have a more monotone voice rather

than my bulletin.

The top stories in the bulletins are different because OCR

bulletin is talking about David Cameron and politics

whereas my bulletin is talking about homelessness and

recession. The structures of both stories are similar as

they both use the inverted triangle and include the mostimportant part of the story at the beginning. Both stories

use the aspect of closeness to home as both of these

stories apply to the listens of OCR because the recession

generally affects everybody also people are interested inwhat he has to say because of his personality. Both stories

both hold a threshold as it is a main event which was

happening when both bulletins were created.

The length of OCR bulletin is a lot shorter than mine as

theirs is 2 minutes whereas mine is just under 5 minutes

which shows that our bulletin is more in-depth with the

information that I and my group are giving to the audience.

Since it is 5 minutes it has giving me and my group to backup our stories with more voxpops interviews so that it

shows we have more facts and evidence. The pace of my

bulletin seems a bit fast. However, this can be a positive as

the information is given to the listeners quick which theyprefer but they may not understand if the pace is too quick.

The pace for OCR is a normal speed and covers the aspect

of 3 words per second which most presenters should

generally do.

Mine and my groups bulletin only covers 3 stories which is

because we covered them in more depth since we have 5

minute gap to fill whereas OCR cover 6. This shows that my

bulletin isn't a typical news bulletin as there should be more

news stories covered in 5 minutes rather than just 3. Both storiescover a hard story the OCR is David Cameron talking about

politics, the soft story which Nelson Mandela is out of hospital

which is consider the soft story and the Egypt’s protest which

can be hard news and the apprentice person is consider soft

news. The sports news is tennis and finally the off the wall isabout Disney release. My news stories consist of the hard story

being the recession affecting the homeless the soft story was the

health and safety measure of the metro link tram lines and finally

the sports story was lee Johnson becoming the new manager of

Oldham athletics.

The content of the OCR bulletin was sufficient as they had

two special reporters within the bulletin whereas I had 3

this was because I had more time to fill. Also I had more

voxpops and interview length than OCR this is yet again

because our length was much longer than OCR. However, they did cover more stories whereas I only covered three.

However my interviews and voxpops where in a lot more

detail than OCR. Within the voxpops I and my group asked

youths the questions which are typically because they arethe target audience for the news bulletin. However, since

the OCR news is from sky it comes across as diverse.

The OCR bulletin doesn’t have a sound bed running

through whilst the presenter is talking which helps the

listeners here the presenters more clearly. However, my

news bulletin uses a sound bed when the presenter is

talking which is useful as the listeners know that it’s back tothe studio and the interviews/ voxpops are over. The

mixing in both bulletins is clear and they flow consistently

which is what the listeners expect to hear. In the

interviews/voxpops in both pieces there are a few ambientnoises which notify the audience when the interviews/vox

pops are being played also the levels on both bulletins are

equal which is down to good editing.
