COMPARATIVE STUDY OF DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OFFERING HEALTH AND
SOCIAL CARE
There are a lot of schools/colleges that offer health and social
care. I narrowed
them down to eight and made a comparative study to decide which
will meet the criteriathat I have. I chose 4 schools/colleges
abroad and 4 here in the Philippines.
The schools abroad that I found are all located in the United
Kingdom. I didnt
find any schools abroad that even remotely meet the criteria
that I set for my choice. Allthe schools in the UK offer the course
for 1 year while it is only for 6-8 months here in
the Philippines. Practicum in the Philippines offer only a
minimum of at least 120 hours
given during the last part of the course whereas work placement
in the UK are at least
1,600 hours incorporated during the one year course.The course
content of caregiver training in the Philippines is both on
pediatric and
geriatric care while UK courses offer child and adult care
separately. The advantage of
the UK schools is that they could explain and expound on every
aspect or subject that has
to be discussed on each course. This advantage makes it easier
for me to decide on whicharea to focus and specialize.
The facilities in the schools/colleges that I chose are all
similar. Every schoolexcept the Fil-Canadian training center has
libraries and internet cafes/laboratories. The
bigger colleges and universities even have health and fitness,
sports facilities and learning
resource centers.
I made comparative graphs and table to illustrate more clearly
the differences andsimilarities and also advantages and
disadvantages of each school/college that I chose.
