KEYNOTE SPEAKERMr Charlie Sartain, who has an honours degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Melbourne, has had more than 30 years’ experience in the mining industry. Mr Sartain initially worked in various engineering and management roles with MIM Holdings Ltd, after which he spent ten years in General Manager roles, with Ravenswood Gold Mines, Ernest Henry Mining Pty Ltd and Minera Alumbrera Ltd in Argentina.After the acquisition of MIM by Xstrata in 2003, Mr Sartain joined the Xstrata plc Executive Committee and became CEO of Xstrata Copper, leading that company’s global copper business.He is currently on an extended sabbatical from the mining corporate world and is Managing Director of his family investment company, Sartain Enterprises Pty Ltd.
