Industries

Oil and Gas

Weld-Con is an established and well-recognized organization amongst

the upstream Oil & Gas companies operating within the region, each of

whose professional approval has enabled us to remain a leading com-

pany within the sector.

As the Sub-Saharan region emerges as crude oil and natural gas pro-

ducer and exporter, Weld-Con involves itself in the specialized me-

chanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation works associated. We are

one of the few companies that have actively participated in such pro-

jects, ranging from construction of natural gas processing plants in the

south of Tanzania to the fabrication of specialized drilling and oil rig

equipment within Eastern Africa.

Power Stations

Weld-Con has extensive experience in the field of power station instal-

lations. Our expertise range from large diesel and HFO engines, steam

and gas turbines setups and geothermal power stations.

Weld-Con’s experience, infrastructure and capacity have grown, ena-

bling us to take on sizeable projects of this kind. Therefore feeding the

growing demand for energy in the East and Central Africa economies,

which strive for economic growth and industrial modernization..

Bulk Liquid Storage Facilities

Weld-Con boasts being the largest tank fabricator in the East and Cen-

tral African regions with over 250 tanks in our portfolio. We have the in-

house capabilities to take on large tank farm projects under an EPC

model where we are able to design all aspects of a bulk liquid storage

terminal. The largest tank that we have built to date is a sizeable

41meters diameter in storage capacity of 23 million litres with a geo-

desic aluminium dome roof.

13

Renewable Energy

As the global demand for renewable energy is prioritized, Weld-Con

has evolved to learn about these technologies and has grown to sup-

port the emergence of sustainable sources of energy.

With investments in large cranage, multiple plate rolling facilities and

robotic FCAW welding machines we have all the equipment required

to construct steel penstock tubes of any size. In 2014 Weld-Con was

awarded the construction of a 2.4Km long penstock line of 3.5m di-

ameter for the 33MW Nzoro Power station in DRC. In addition to this

Weld-Con was awarded the full site installation of this Penstock Line.

In-Plant and Cross Country Piping

From the outset, piping has always been a critical division in our or-

ganization since 1986.

Our skilled team of pipe layers and welders have been involved in

large scale piping projects in power stations, fuel Oil depots/

refineries and offshore piping. Having executed these types of pro-

jects for over 35 years, Weld-Con realizes the importance of safety

and having a minimal impact on surrounding rural areas and local

communities.

Over the years we have gained the reputation as specialists in EPC

of Airport fuel hydrant systems. Weld-Con has executed both aircraft

fuel hydrant systems for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nai-

robi and Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar es Salaam suc-

cessfully. Weld-Con was also involved in the commissioning of both

Tank Inspection

Weld-Con offers certified API 653 tank inspection for storage tanks

based on customer-specific requirements and local regulations. This

inspection determines the physical condition of the tank to assure its

integrity and to evaluate the suitability of the tank for continued ser-

vice. Weld-Con owns and operates its own tank inspection equip-

ment, ranging from UT tank crawler to tank floor corrosion mapping.

14

Tank Maintenance and Repair

Over the years we have not only become a specialist in the construc-

tion of new tanks, but we have overhauled and repaired just as many

older tanks as per API 653 Tank repair code.

We have our own in-house API 653 tank inspector coupled with all the

tank inspection equipment, enabling us to study the integrity and corro-

sion levels of an existing tank and carry out the necessary repair work.

We have completely overhauled tanks of up to 65 meters in diameter

with work scopes ranging from foundation repair, bottom replacement,

insertion of shell-plates, dismantling and reinstalling floating roofs, re-

furbishing tank nitrogen fire repression systems and full corrosion pro-

tection.

Heavy Lifting

Across the spectrum of industries that Weld-Con has worked in, sup-

port is required from all stages of construction. From maintenance and

in emergency works, petrochemical plants, power stations, oil and gas

to mining or heavy lifting.

Weld-Con has a large modern fleet of lifting equipment from cranes

ranging from 25T up to 140T. Additionally, we have developed the

expertise to carry out complicated gantry type lifts for large equipment

and set in place using jack and slide technology.

Weld-Con’s heavy lifting division can support our clients in every pri-

mary industrial sector. With a combination of specialized equipment

and experienced team, we can help our clients benefit from our ser-

vices. Our main aim during a lifting study and procedure is to ensure

that the work is done safely. We aim to shorten the critical path result-

ing in facilities coming into production and returning to service on

schedule.

Wherever large, heavy and out of gauge equipment or components

need to be lifted, Weld-Con can supply the equipment, expertise and

experience to do the job safely and efficiently.
