Intralux Australia is a dynamic luminaire design and development company, dedicated to manufacturing technically advanced, energy efficient and innovative commercial lighting products for niche market segments.

Founded in 1986 by the company’s Managing Director, Mr David Tilbury, Intralux Australia has extensive

international presence in more than 20 countries via strategic alliances with local distributors and re-sellers. The manufacturing facilities encompass modern semi-automated production techniques and an in-house research and development department that utilises sophisticated 3D modelling technology to take advantage of rapid prototyping processes.

The Intralux team comprises of dedicated professionals working together in a corporate culture that is focused on the Customer, Human Resources, Design and Innovation. Customer, in terms of meeting their requirements on product specification, delivery time, prices and personalised service. Human Resources, in terms of continuous learning, team work and people empowerment. Design and Innovation, in terms of investment in new technology and acquisition of new techniques to achieve one of Intralux’ competitive advantages – clever design.

Energy Efficiency

In both Residential and Commercial sectors lighting is a large draw on energy resources, accounting for 25% and 35% respectively of total energy use. In a world of diminishing energy reserves, efficiency in lighting plays a major role in slowing the trends upon us.

Much is made of financial savings of energy purchased, but little is made of the environment cost or savings for the world’s ecosystems. The immediate reduction in overheads is more important to revenues than ‘saving the planet’. The burning of fossil fuels increases at an alarming rate as the world economy continues to grow and expand. Major concerns are widespread over moves towards nuclear energy after major mishaps have wreaked havoc on communities. The move to sustainable energy sources such as solar panels, wind turbines, and alternate fuels are thwarted at every step by countries and large multi-national corporations whose economy is ruled by a dependence on oil and coal.

While lighting is of great importance to industry, commerce and the general well being of earth’s human inhabitants, a greater effort is being made in lighting than most other energy use sectors. Now gone far beyond pressure or encouragement, Governments now legislate levels of reduction in lighting energy consumption because it is a visible commodity. Yet much would be made of degradation to the amenity of public areas if lighting was to be switched off or dramatically reduced. Some would argue that law and order would suffer if public lighting was curtailed.

The lighting industry has done more over the past ten years to arrest the trend of energy over consumption than the previous 100 years, with the introduction of energy efficient lamps such as the T5 fluorescent, Induction lamps, and LED’s.

As well as the large scale introduction of high efficiency ballasts and control gear. Yes, the world is very different than 100 years ago and since, and technology has gone ahead in leaps and bounds to ensure energy efficiency of lighting. More can be done globally to ensure energy reductions in all sectors or a greater push to sustainable energy. Further savings in lighting can only be made with a greater emphasis on lamp and ballast technology and efficient luminaire design.

As a good corporate citizen, coupled to the genuine concern for the future viability of the environment, Intralux Australia is dedicated to continuous energy efficient product development initiatives.

The Flare T5 family is a creative design solution for the effective, high performance illumination of surfaces. It can be concealed, completely recessed or visually revealed as an architecturally elegant suspended or wall mounted fixture.

FeaturesFlare T5 uses linear T5 lamp technology to produce immense levels of high performance illumination with amazing colour rendering properties of 85 CRI and lamp efficacy of up to 104 lumens per watt*. An efficient life of 24,000* hours coupled to a near flat lumen output depreciation curve, provide a low cost forward maintenance outcome. Both the building occupier and the professional designer now have the tool to efficiently light vertical or horizontal surfaces in virtually all situations.

Benefits Utilising light weight high strength extruded aluminium, Flare T5 is manufactured in a range of sizes from 587mm to 2960mm, a slender height of 52mm and a width of 179mm. In suspended configuration this high performance system delivers a low profile, visually appealing outcome, with minimum disturbance to the local building environment. The minimalist suspension system is almost invisible yet incredibly strong, including provision for simple and quick adjustment for alignment.

Cable Entry Options

Slite Luminaires are available with either left or right hand cable entry. This ensures that ballast position and wiring configuration can be optimised for each application. Customers should select their choice of cable direction when specifying or ordering Slite Luminaires. If no direction is specified, left hand cable entry shall be supplied by default.

Light Distribution

Xenflex is an incredibly compact fitting that can be discreetly positioned into Domes, Ceiling Recesses or even Floor Lighting.

Domes – Place Xenflex inside the rim at the base of the recess.

Ceiling Recesses – Place Xenflex against the back of the upright for maximum flexibility in curved sections.

Floor Lighting – For optimum light distribution, attach Xenflex to the top of the recess facing downwards.

To optimise the use of Xenflex lighting systems in indirect illumination applications, it is important to consider the distance of the light source from the point of reflection. The point of uniform intensity illumination will vary in proportion to the proximity of the lamp spacing. When building recesses to accommodate Xenflex, the distance to the reflecting surface is measured from the lamp centres. For Example: With a lamp spacing of 100mm, the point of uniform illumination begins at 65mm (Figure 1).
