Q: What is a Smart (prepaid) Water Meter? A: A Smart (Prepaid) Water Meter is an advanced/intelligent water meter that a

customer pays for the water prior to actual consumption, just like your mobile phone’s air time. It is has a “Water Valve control function” that opens with purchase of water credit units to allow water to flow in, and closes the water valve when the water credit runs out to cut off water supply, with a prior alarm warning ring for the customer to purchase & top up their water credit.

The RF Prepaid Water Meter with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) comes with a separate token keypad called a Customer Interface Unit (CIU). It is a keypad metering solution which uses a digital token (20 digits encrypted number) to transfer the water credit. In this solution, the system sends a twenty digits token (water credit) to the customer’s mobile through SMS after payment by mobile money such as Mpesa. The Customer then inputs the twenty digit token (water credit) into the Customer Interface Unit (CIU) which then transfers the water credit to the Prepaid Water Meter, to allow water to flow in. It is compatible with both velocity and volumetric type water meter, which comply with OIMLR49, ISO4064 and conforms to STS standard protocol

By adopting Radio Frequency Communication Technology, Smart gas Meter communicates with the CIU conveniently to realize remote meter recharge, parameter inquiry etc which provides comprehensive, reliable and advanced smart prepayment solutions to gas service providers. Moreover, the Automatic Meter Reading with/without valve control (AMR/AMI) function is also available, which enables remote meter data collection & monitoring. It is compatible with all kinds of Laison gas meters, which comply with OIMLR49, ISO4064 and conforms to STS standard protocol.

The LXSIC Smart Card Prepaid Water Meter adopts wet type mechanical water meter, features in Prepayment, Real-time calculation & billing functions; It provides comprehensive, reliable, advanced smart prepayment solutions to Water Service Providers. The LAISON Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) is part of LAISON Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System. By adoption of Semtech’s LoRa RF Wireless Module, which features low power and long communication range, It enables Meter Data Collection as well as Valve Open / Close remotely and stably. In addition, all the data can be uploaded to a Central Management System via Internet or GPRS. It provides comprehensive, reliable & advanced smart meter solutions to water service providers, which avoids door-to-door meter reading. THE LAPIS PREPAID WATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The LXHZ Type RF Wireless Walk – by Remote Water Meter Reader with Valve Control (LXHZ RF Wireless Water Meter adopts Volumetric Type mechanical water meter. By integrating an RF Wireless and Infrared Communication Module, it enables remote meter reading, valve control and data query functions while walking past a Laison Prepaid Water Meter. It provides comprehensive, reliable and advanced smart meter solutions to water service providers. The meter has Real-time clock (RTC), real-time credit calculation, and monthly billing data etc. functions to provide real- time water consumption statistics. Moreover, It supports Open Case Detection & Anti- magnetic interference to prevent tampering and also has Event Record functions to provide accurate statistics of operation, warning & indication etc. during meters’ lifetime to Water Utility. The LXHZ complies with OIMLR49, ISO4064, NTC-1063 standards, and suitable for Laison Remote Management Information System (LAMIS).

LAPIS (Laison Prepaid Information System) adopts C-S (Sever and Client) model. It is compatible with Laison Prepaid Water meters and can calculate either by volume or by money. LAPIS system has basic functions such as Customer Registration, Water Sales, Sales Report Statistic etc. and has additionally functions such Water Price Management, Holiday Management, Monthly Frozen Date Management etc. which makes the system more smart. LAPIS system can work with different version SQL Database like SQL2000, SQL2005, SQL2008 etc., and the Operation System must installed Framework 2.0 or above. The OS can be 32bits or 64bits Windows XP, Windows Vista, Window 7 etc.

AquaCAPTURE Prepaid Billing Information Management System (BIMS) Our AquaCAPTURE Prepaid Billing System has a module to enable integration with existing Water Billing Systems of the Water Service Providers. The Service will be installed at the Water Company Server where their existing Billing System is. An automatic service update will be made if the Water Billing System allows it via web-service or via export/import files. We have developed a Backend system allowing the Users (Water Service Providers) to capture all activities and to use the app Operations and the web application.

The backend for Users is available at: http://www.cs4africa.com/aqua/Security/SignIn.aspx Once logged the system will show the billings done by the various users (Water Service Providers). The AquaCAPTURE Server is the core of the communication system as it is the point of junction between the STS Token Server, the Payment Gateway and the Communication framework for the Mobile application AquaCAPTURE Consumer and AquaCAPTURE Operations. It also connects to the SMS Gateway and the Billing Service that allows synchronizing the local billing system of the Water Service Provider.
