Company Profile Company name: Elina Organics CEO: Elina Fedotova Year Established: 1998 Business Type: Skin Care Product Formulator and Manufacturer, Day Spa Located: Chicago and Kalamazoo No. of Employees: 14 Mission Statement: To combine the latest science with traditional holistic prin- ciples to produce corrective, organic and seasonal skin care products, along with effective, non-invasive skin care procedures; we approach the skin as part of a healthy body and do not use procedures or ingredients that could lead to undesirable side effects. I n 1998 Elina Fedotova opened her first clinic and launched her skin care line. As both an aesthetician and cosmetic chemist, she continues to hand make her fresh skin care products from start to finish from organic botanicals and other natural ingredients. She never uses any pre-manufactured bases, and her products change seasonally to prevent the skin from becoming immune to the same ingredient combinations. This seasonal approach requires that Elina create fresh products in small batches on a weekly basis. Her deep delivery, bioenergized formulas are then shipped all over the country and abroad to licensed professionals and doctors’ offices. After more than 14 years in business, the faces of Elina Organics clients continue to prove that a non-invasive approach to skin care yields highly effective anti-aging results. Here is what Elina Organic’s CEO, Elina Fedotova, had to say during a recent interview. Q: What is the strength Elina Organics? A: It is my belief that the right combination and balance of natural ingredients can deliver superior results. I only use extracts from whole botanicals and minerals; all formulations are free of isolates and synthetic ingredients. Q: What sets you apart from other manufacturers? A: I am a cosmetic chemist and formulator and I manufacture all of the Elina Organics products by hand. Our products are produced weekly in small batches of five to 10 gallons, which gives our company the flexibility to adjust ingredients according to the seasonal needs of the skin. For example, in the winter I will use an oil extract of rose hips for prod- ucts, a water extract of the same ingredient in the spring, and the juice of it in the summer to help the skin weather climate changes. Q: What do you think about the rising demand for natural skin care products? A: I have formulated organic products since the early 90s and due to the demand for natural skin care products, I no longer feel isolated like I did earlier in my career. However, this demand has also led to an increase in the number of organic skin care companies. I am asked periodically if this increase has made it more difficult for me and my business. Honestly, it has not because I would rather share the market with like-minded companies, than those with opposing philosophies. I believe that more natural products on the market points to higher consumer demand and education levels. The question then becomes how effective a product is, instead of just whether or not it is made of natural ingredients. Every human being has a face that requires care and attention; those who offer the best solutions do not need to worry about competition. company profile August 2012 | DERMASCOPE 45
