Our Journey has been possible through Mr. Nyaga, who made his name in broadcast while working for Broadcast Solutions Int’l in 2010 and then as a consultant for Standard Group PLC between 2011-2013. While consulting, Nyaga worked on high profile projects such as the build out for Radio Maisha Studios along Mombasa road and CBD and KTN News Channel Contribution link to DVB Head-End.

Nyaga Later Founded Jamiro Broadcast , An Independent Broadcast System integrator in Nairobi which shaped the broadcast industry especially in the next generation of Broadcast technology. Some of the Most Remarkable innovations Nyaga brought into the market include: Digital IP STL, capable to transport real time L/R or MPX signal from studio to transmitter, through TCP/IP network on Wireless Point to Point Link), Digital Microwave Links For TV Contribution networks, Visual Radio integration with content distribution on OTT Platforms, Visual Radio on Virtual Radio, SDI-IP Migration in TV Playout Systems, Virtualization in TV Master Control Room among others.

Project Monitoring

Monitoring is a continuous assessment that aims at providing all stakeholders with early detailed information on the progress or delay of the ongoing assessed activities. It is an oversight of the activity's implementation stage. Its purpose is to determine if the outputs, deliveries and schedules planned have been reached so that action can be taken to correct the deficiencies as quickly as possible.

Good planning helps focus on the results that matter, while monitoring and evaluation help us learn from past successes and challenges and inform decision making so that current and future initiatives are better able to improve people's lives and expand their choices.

Project Evaluation

An evaluation is a systematic and objective examination concerning the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and impact of activities in the light of specified objectives. The idea in evaluating projects is to isolate errors not to repeat them and to underline and promote the successful mechanisms for current and future projects.

An important goal of evaluation is to provide recommendations and lessons to the project managers and implementation teams that have worked on the projects and for the ones that will implement and work on similar projects.




Project Closing Project closing marks the final step of finalizing all activities for the project, phase, or contract.

Actions and activities necessary to satisfy completion or exit criteria for the phase or project such as:

o Making certain that all documents and deliverables are up-to-date and that all issues are

resolved;

o Confirming the delivery and formal acceptance of deliverables by the customer;

o Ensuring that all costs are charged to the project;

o Closing project accounts;

o Reassigning personnel. Depending upon the organization type (we will be covering

organization types later in the course) the project staff will be assigned to another

project, or they will return to their usual jobs, or their contracts will be finalized and they

will leave the organization to take up the next contract.

On the Job Training:

In this type of method, a new or less experienced employee is given some kind of instructions or

advice from a more experienced employee who may be a supervisor or some kind of a special

instructor.

Off the Job Training

This type of method involves a trainee leaving their work for the time being and they need to give

or devote their entire work time for getting the necessary training required.

1. Visual Radio on Virtual Radio

This is one of the most successful Innovation by Jamiro Broadcast, launched during AFRICAST 2018 in Abuja- Nigeria. The solution features a fully automated software-based production solution by programming logic algorithms for microphones and radio automation to produce live, switched, visual radio OTT content on a virtual mixer!

“Visual Radio on Virtual Radio” was not a new invention but a high level integration using different Software and hardware vendors to create an affordable solution to the African Market by embracing new technologies affordably, and maintaining their competitive edge in content production and distribution. The solution is designed for web, mobile, and TV platforms.

Our aim was geared to reducing separate boxes cluttering up the studio and putting all of those physical machines that make up the radio studio into a virtual machine, inside your computer. Since the real work of these devices is already done in software.

The system building block for “Visual Radio on Virtual Radio” solution include a single Computer/Laptop and a Sound Card only! For deployment simplicity, we chose USB HD Webcams and mounted them on a standard Microphone Arm for close-ups with minimal camera adjustments. Everything else was done by the software including the Audio Mixing.

2. MCRPack

While the old TV Channels still migrating from Analog-to-SDI, At Jamiro Broadcast, we have revolutionized the IP technology and we are now delivering complete IP Workflows at the most complex “Master Control Rooms- MCR” with powerful integrated solutions for pixel-perfect broadcast delivery with a mind blowing price!




Our MCRPack solution is again built on virtualization concept. With the modern cloud utility model, virtualization is turning broadcasting into a software driven business. In any standard MCR, you’ll expect to find Hardware Routers, Hardware Switchers, Hardware Multiviewers etc.. All these complex, expensive and sophisticated gear can be reduced into a single box of powerful custom built server with ZERO SDI interface cards for Inputs and outputs.

How it Works

Our Workflow, whether in new channels or existing ones start with migration from SDI- to IP-based infrastructure in a gradual, step-by-step manner.

The solution is built on a special, customized, assembled hardware server with the ability to convert SD or HD SDI streams into broadcast-quality, SMPTE-compliant RTP/UDP streams or vice versa. This makes it ideal for broadcast operations that receive a large number of external feeds in baseband SD/HD-SDI. Incoming SD and HD RTP streams from satellites, playout devices and network sources are registered using the Cinegy Route registry server and are converted to broadcast-quality IP video streams in realtime.

Two hundred or more streams can be captured, managed and routed simultaneously. Individual streams can be accessed from any point in the network, without generation loss.

The Outcome

By Virtualization, the MCRPack reduce the individual hardware components in the MCR by running multiple instances of your broadcasting tools inside virtual machines, eliminating the worry (and expense) of redundant systems once and for all.

With the evolving TV Channels need to add more channels in the Multiviewer, Router, Switcher or Playout, we make this possible by just adding a License on the same hardware which makes the solution quite scalable with a major cost saving on CAPEX.

3. Digital IP STL

Think of establishing more than one radio station the old fashioned Radio VHF Links for audio contribution with simplex communication….. Each of the station requires a Frequency with a separate Transmitter.




Our Wireless, Duplex, Multichannel, Long range IP STL system is designed to transport real time MPX with RDS or L/R signal from studio to transmitter on a Digital Microwave!

Professional IP STLs must deliver uncompromised quality, no modulation overshoots, no audible latency for live on- air monitoring and time accuracy for SFN operation and specifically designed to operate in harsh environment like the mountains where the transmitters are located. Our Digital IP STL is Integrated and designed exactly with these principles. It has the advantage to transparently transport Analog or Digital MPX with 2.5mS latency, and Analog or Digital L/R discrete channels over uncompressed linear PCM 24bit 48kHz (L/R mode) or 24bit 192kHz (MPX mode).

The Technology

The solution has had a major cost saving on CAPEX for customers with more than one Radio Channel. With the old systems, each radio station would require a separate STL with individual License for each transmitter. This method separates channels by frequency, so if users want to have two channels they’ll have two separate frequencies. We have revolutionized this by having a High Capacity Duplex Microwave link which makes it possible for other services like monitoring and telemetry for all SNMP enabled devices at the transmitter site since two or more users can share the same frequency in the following manner: User 1 gets to use the frequency for a very short fixed period of time, perhaps 50 milliseconds. Then the channel reverts to user 2 who gets 50 milliseconds. Then it cycles again back to user one who gets a further 50 milliseconds, and so on and so forth.

4. FM Sites Telemetry

Most of the old transmitters provided remote monitoring using contact closures using GPIO ports and the modern equipment have upgraded their monitoring by SNMP, Web and Mobile App. integration. We do it differently. Imagine in a typical FM site.. How many equipment should be present? Think of Satellite receivers, Generators, Fuel tanks, Air Conditioners, Heat extractors among others.. Our telemetry system is designed to monitor and control almost Everything by SNMP. For non- SNMP compatible devices, we have developed special circuits
