The Containment Specialist WP 150 Pharma

The WP 150 Pharma roller compactor made by Alexan-derwerk is a compactor and granulator designed for use in the pharmaceutical industry. With its sealing sy-stem customized for containment and a throughput of up to 150 kg/hr., it is about the finest machine when it comes to compacting or granulating highly efficient preparations. Since the 1950s, Alexanderwerk has been developing and producing roller compactors for use in the chemical or primary industries. With the WP 150 Pharma, Alexanderwerk has now complemented its roller com pa ctor production series with a containment machine. The WP 150 Pharma combines the design principles of the “standard“ roller compactors made by Alexanderwerk with the requirements made of a containment machine:

Containment Sealing SystemThe proportions of highly active substances in phar-maceutical preparations is continuously rising. To ensure operators or other such personnel do not get in contact with these active ingredients, it is imperative to have a production environment free from any dust, viz. containment. A special containment sealing system has been developed for the WP 150 Pharma so as to guarantee separation between the processing cham-ber and the machine operator or the environment respectively.

The processing chamber is tightly bolted by means of eight handles, and can be monitored at any time through the transparent front panel.

With the WP 150 Pharma, Alexanderwerk adds to the series of roller compactors a containment machine for processing highly active preparations (with a throughput of up to 150 kg/hr.).

RFG Granulating ModuleAfter compaction in the roller compactor, there is a downstream crushing step. This step is also known as degrading granulation. This is where rotor fine granu-latorsoftheRFGmodelmadebyAlexanderwerkareused. As opposed to the WP 120 roller compactors, this granulating module is of a single-stage design, and of larger dimensions accordingly. Again, the modular design is typical of Alexanderwerk. Process- related components such as screen baskets or cleats are easy to remove or replace without any special tools.Inthisway,differentmeshsizes,perforatedplates or square wire mesh may be used. Alexander-werk offers strainers with mesh openings of between 0.5 mm and 10 mm.
