HEALING CHILDHOOD TRAUMAAnna Farrin, LCSW, The Healing PlayroomThe Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study gave us new insight into the lasting effects of childhood trauma. Included is an outline on how toxic stress associated with a high ACE score enters a child’s developing brain architecture, cardiovascular system, immune system and endocrine system creating long term health, mental health and social problems later in life. Also discussed are behavioral effects of early trauma and how caregivers can interact with children in ways that buffer the effects of toxic stress.Building A, Room 2011
