The Community and School Sports Development is based at

Fort Regent and was introduced in 2006 and has the responsibility to ensure that all young people on Jersey can access sport.

The activities on offer in this booklet are for the 2016 Summer & October Holidays. All costs are listed next to the activity.

How to BookBy Post: Please complete the application form in full and return together with the correct payment to Community & School Sports Development (Holiday Course), Fort Regent, St Helier, JE2 4UX. Payment is required at the time of booking (cash or cheques accepted). Please make cheques payable to ‘THE TREASURER OF THE STATES’.

All applications are processed on a first come first served basis. All activities have limited availability. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Important notes for parents/guardiansAll activities will start and finish at the times stipulated. Please ensure that participants arrive and are collected at the correct times. Instructors cannot take responsibility for children outside session times.

• Access to drink or food at the café is not permissible.

• Please ensure participants bring plenty to drink (non-fizzy) and a snack.

• All equipment will be provided except when indicated.

• Please ensure appropriate footwear and clothing is worn (refusal may be given if inappropriate clothing is worn).

• No iPhones/iPadsetc. are allowed in the sessions.

Child Safety & WelfareThe safety and welfare of your child is the sole responsibility of the Community and School Sports Department whilst the sessions are being delivered. As a result we would ask that parents and guardians are only allowed inside the sports halls when signing your child in or out.

The Sports Development Department reserve the right to cancel or amalgamate courses/sessions should there be insufficient demand.

In order to ensure safety and enjoyment of all youngsters the department for Sports Development reserves the right to refuse applications or withdraw youngsters from activities. Parents/guardians will be informed should the situation arise by the Community Development Officer (Sport) or a member of the department.

Please Note: Please note that cancellations and requests for refunds must be made in writing to the Community and School Sports Department at least one week before the course start date.

We would respectfully ask that parents/guardians ensure that participants attend everyday of the activities. This is due to a high demand for places owing to the low cost to the KICK OFF courses.

Failure to attend all the days without suitable cause could result in future applications being rejected.

The organisers will not be responsible for any expense, consequential loss, legal liability, loss or damage to any property or person arising from any matters, acts and/or defaults outside its control. Please note that Sports Development Department accepts no liability in relation to any loss/damage arising out of any service/course included in this programme provided by a third party.

For Insurance purposes all participants must be within the age bands stipulated at the time of the course.

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £15.00 for 4 days.

Venue: Queens Hall, Fort Regent.

Monday 18th - Thursday 21st July 12.30pm – 4.00pm Booking code: MULTI-1

Monday 25th - Thursday 28th July 12.30pm – 4.00pm Booking code: MULTI-2

Monday 1st - Thursday 4th August 12.30pm – 4.00pm Booking code: MULTI-3

Monday 8th - Thursday 11th August 12.30pm – 4.00pm Booking code: MULTI-4

These fun sessions are for anyone aged 8-15 years old and are suitable for all levels of ability. Session will include organised team games including Qwik Cricket, Rounders, Dodge Ball, Sit-Down Volleyball, Bench Ball, Tag Rugby as well as trampoline, badminton and table tennis. Trampoline - Please wear thick socks, long sleeved top and tracksuit bottoms or similar.

Gymnastics (8-12 years old)

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £8.00 for 4 days.

Venue: Queens Hall – Fort Regent.

These sessions will be delivered in partnership with The Regent Gym Club. The sessions will allow participants with an introduction to gymnastics allow them to improve their basic gymnastic skills and techniques including balance and coordination. There will also be opportunities to use equipment including springboards, bars and balance beams.

Summer Holiday Courses

Squash , Racketball and Padel Tennis (8-15 years old). These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £8.00 for 4 days

Venue: Jersey Squash and Racquetball Club – St Clements Recreational Grounds.

Monday 25th - Thursday 28th July 1.00pm - 3.00pm Booking code: SQ-1

These sessions will be delivered by squash development officer Nick Taylor. Participants can expect to learn the basic techniques and shots from grip, swing, drives, lobs, boasts and drops shots and put them into fun condition and full match situations. In addition, this summer and October, Padel Tennis will be added to the programme. Padel tennis is a game adapted from tennis. Participants are asked to wear clean non-marking trainers and appropriate clothing. Please bring plenty to drink.

Badminton (8-15 years old). These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £8.00 for 4 days

Venue: The Gilson Hall Badminton Club.

Monday 18th - Thursday 21st July 2.00pm - 4.00pm Booking code: BAD-1

These sessions will be delivered by Mark Constable, Badminton Development Officer and will take place at The Gilson Hall. Participants will learn all the skills required from serves to drop shots in fun games and matches. Participants are asked to wear non-marking trainers.

Cricket (8-12 years old).

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £8.00 for 4 days.

Venue: Queens Hall, Fort Regent.

Working with coaches from the Jersey Cricket Board participants will learn cricket skills through fun games and drills. Participants are asked to wear appropriate sports clothing e.g. tracksuits/shorts/t-shirts etc. Please bring plenty to drink.

Monday 15th - Thursday 18th August

11.00am – 12.00pm

Booking code: BOWLS-1

Indoor Bowls (8-15 years old).

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £5.00 for 4 days.

Venue: Grainville Indoor Bowls Club.

People of any ability can enjoy this sport and it has a great social aspect to it. Whether practicing, playing in a competitive league or just playing with friends, bowls is good exercise for muscles and joints.

Participants will receive coaching to learn the correct techniques and rules associated with indoor bowls.

Freshwater Angling (8-15 years old).

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £8.00 for 4 days.

Venue: St Lawrence Reservoir.

These sessions are delivered in partnership with the Jersey Freshwater Angling Association. Participants will learn both theory and practical skills to freshwater angling.Option to take up £5 membership with the Jersey Freshwater Angling Club.

Monday 25th - Thursday 28th July 10.00am – 12.00pm Booking code: ANG-1

Football (8-12 years old).

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £8.00 for 4 days.

Venue: Queens Hall, Fort Regent.

These sessions will focus on improving football techniques through fun games, skills challenges and matches.

Monday 8th - Thursday 11th August 10.00am – 12.00pm Booking code: FBALL-1

F.A. Skills (8-11 years old).

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £30.00 for 3 days.

Venue: Springfield Stadium.

During the summer holidays Jersey will be hosting the FA Skills Coaches. This is a unique opportunity that will provide top quality coaching and allow children the opportunity to enhance their football skills. There will also be other fun activities over the 3 days with relays, penalty shoot outs, use of the inflatable pitches and many other activities to take part in.

Tuesday 16th - Thursday 18th August 10.00am – 3.00pm Booking code: FAS

Inflatable Football Park (8-15 years old).

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Venue: Various locations during the Summer Holidays See our Twitter and Facebook pages for details.

Time: 1.00pm - 3.00pm

Our Inflatable Football Parks will be in different community locations each week of the summer holidays allowing as many young people as possible the opportunity to take part in free small sided football games.

There is no booking required for this activity, simply turn up and play. You can either come with a team already arranged or if not we will provide a team for you. Please wear appropriate clothing and bring plenty to drink. No football boots.

Any changes to these sessions due to adverse weather will be posted on our facebook and twitter pages.

October Holiday Courses

These fun sessions are for anyone aged 8 – 11 years old and are suitable for all levels of swimming ability. During these sessions participants will receive coaching to improve techniques and skills in order to improve overall swimming ability. There will also be fun pool games towards the end of each session.

Please bring a swimming costume, towel, swimming hat and goggles if you have them (every child will be expected to wear a hat during the lesson which can be provided). Participants must be able to change unaided.

Parents/Guardians are welcome to stay and spectate during their child’s session if they wish from the spectator’s gallery.

Swimming (8-11 years old).

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels.

Course fee: £5.00 for 4 days.

Venue: Haute Vallée Swimming Pool.
