SEASON REVIEW After a successful campaign in the inaugural season, the san jose
Barracuda came back stronger than ever during the 2016-17 season. The
Barracuda came into the season with the youngest team in the AHL but

The barracuda finished the season with a 43-16-4-5 record tallying 95
Points on the season which locked up the pacific division and the western
Conference regular season title. Throughout the season, nine different

Community review
Throughout the 2016-17 season, the san jose barracuda took the same
Approach off the ice as they did on the ice by being some of the hardest
Working players in the league. Building off their success from last
season, The barracuda worked hard to strengthen their bond with the
san jose Community.
The barracuda brought hockey education programming to 30+ schools
Where almost 3000 students were visited in 120 classrooms. San Jose
barracuda players were also involved in helping the organization
Establish themselves as a top tier ahl club. Barracuda players made 40
appearances on the season at various schools, hospitals, charity events
And other community outreach opportunities.
Not only were players a major factor in establishing a strong connection
To the community but so was the barracuda team mascot, frenzy. Since
His debut in January, frenzy has made over 150 outside appearances and
that number is Constantly growing.
There are many great events that the barracuda have participated In
Since moving to san jose and there are even more that we will attend in
The future. Continuing to create and strengthen the connection between
The team and the community is a top priority for the san jose barracuda.

CHARITABLE SUMMARY
One of the biggest ways in which the san jose barracuda stay involved
Within the community is through their charitable giving. Throughout
The course of the season, the barracuda fulfilled 100% of the donation
Requests we received. The barracuda also donated thousands of tickets
in an effort to help strengthen its young fan base. In addition to
memorabilia, san jose also made a number Of monetary donations to
local non-profits to support their individual Causes.

MAN OF THE YEAR Every season, each AHL franchise nominates one player from their team
For the yanick dupré memorial award. This award annually recognizes the
American Hockey league player who demonstrates the greatest commitment
to Charitable organizations and his community throughout the season.
This season, the barracuda nominated goaltender troy grosenick. In his
Fourth pro season, grosenick had a breakout year which included
Leading the AHL in shutouts, ranking second in wins, and was named best
Goalie by his peers. Off the ice, grosenick made an even bigger impact. He
spent 20+ hours at Barracuda community appearances, he assisted In the
barracuda efforts in partnering with humane society silicon valley, And
he ensured that dozens of children would be able to celebrate their
Birthday by donating tickets to families through cake4kids.
Grosenick also was instrumental in making sure the barracuda received
100% player participation in this season’s gifts & goals event.

BARRACUDA MATH CLASS
Barracuda Math Class is a community outreach program for elementary
school-aged children designed to generate excitement and interest around
math. This program has been created based off of the standards outlined
by the California Board of Education to teach students all about the
game of hockey while simultaneously practicing their everyday math
Skills.
During each lesson, students get to know barracuda players, review
basic hockey information and discuss their favorite aspects of math.
Following that discussion, the group is split into two teams for a game
Of “math jeopardy”. All of the questions are about hockey but to answer
The questions, students will need to use their math skills. When the game
is over, all of the Students receive a school kit with pencils and a ruler,
an autographed Photo of the visiting player, and a ticket to a barracuda
home game.
In its second year, barracuda math class visited close to 3,000 students
In 120 Classrooms over the course of 50+ visits.

HOCKEY 101 For the san jose sharks, a major goal of their community involvement is
To help generate and maintain interest in the game of hockey around the
Bay area. Hockey 101 is a program where kids can learn to train like the
Pros. A program created in an effort to help Ryan carpenter get kids at
his wife’s school involved in hockey, hockey 101 has made 11 visits
During the 16-17 season.
During hockey 101, barracuda players and/or staff visit PE classes,
Youth Organizations and after school programs to give students a lesson
On how to play hockey. The visit kicks off with an introduction on the
Basic rules of hockey, how to hold a hockey stick, and the importance of
Passing and stick handling. After the introductory lesson, the players
and staff spilt the Students into groups where they run hockey drills
in shooting, Passing, stick handling, and they will exercising like the
Pros.

On november 5th, the san jose barracuda held their second annual pink
In the rink night, presented by kaiser permanente. The breast cancer
Awareness inspired jerseys were sponsored by kaiser and Proceeds from
the sold jerseys were donated to the canary challenge.
The game itself was a battle, but the barracuda ultimately fell to the san
Antonio rampage 6-5. five different barracuda players scored in the game
Including ryan carpenter and barclay goodrow.
The pink barracuda Jerseys were all sold during the Game that
Afternoon Through Raffle, silent and online auctions. The barracuda
raised a total of $9,280 and donated $3,160.04 to the canary challenge.

STAR WARS NIGHT After the success of star wars night during the 15-16 season, the san
Jose barracuda elected to bring it back for another season. ON November
25th, WITH STAR WARS CHARACTERS ROAMING THE CONCOURSE, THE BARRACUDA
WORE SPECIAL storm trooper THEMED JERSEYS AS THEY TOOK ON THE
Bakersfield condors.
PROCEEDS FROM THE BARRACUDA STAR WARS JERSEYS WERE DONATED TO THE
Veterans tickets foundation. The barracuda defeated the condors by a
Score of 4-1 and rookie forward colin blackwell scored the first goal
Of his professional career.
With the help a loyal fan base, the barracuda raised a total of $12,401.65
and donated $5,494.55 to vet tix. All money was Raised through Raffle,
Silent and Online auctions.

Santa jersey One of the most popular specialty jerseys worn by the barracuda are the
Holiday themed jerseys. This past season, the barracuda wore santa suit
Inspired jerseys during their game against bakersfield on december 17th.
A portion of the proceeds from jersey sales were donated to the
Salvation army.

Christmas. Through raffle, silent and online auctions, the Barracuda
Raised a total of $16,597 and donated $10,661.16 to salvation army.
In the game itself, the barracuda defeated the condors 5-0. jon martin
Scored the first goal of his professional career and goaltender troy
Grosenick extended his franchise record shutout streak to 241 minutes
And 36 seconds. The shutout was grosenick’s fifth of the season.

MILITARY NIGHT The January 14th game against stockton was the second annual military
appreciation night held by the san jose barracuda. featuring special
Red, white and blue jerseys, the barracuda played an integral role in an
Organization wide military appreciation weekend. Proceeds from the sold
jerseys were later donated to operation: troop outreach.
The barracuda defeated the heat 2-0 by scoring two third period goals.
Goaltender mantas armalis recorded his second shutout of the season
Registering 19 saves during the contest.
The patriotic jerseys were sold during the Game that night Through
raffle, Silent, and online auctions. The barracuda raised a total of
$16,051.01 and donated $10,030.98 to operation: troop outreach.

California jersey The most successful specialty jersey of the 16-17 season was worn on
February 12th when the barracuda took on the ontario reign. The state

Fan designed jersey
The sixth and final specialty jersey was worn on march 11th against the
Grand rapids griffins. Barracuda fans were encouraged to design and
Submit their Own specialty jersey in the months prior to the game. The
Top four designs were then voted on by the fans to decide which jersey
Would be featured in the game.
The black, teal and gray sweaters were modeled after throwback
sharks jerseys. Barracuda networks sponsored the jerseys and Part of
the proceeds from the jersey sale would later be Donated to the junior
Sharks. In all, the barracuda raised $16,404 and donated $58,569.47 to
The junior sharks organization.
In the game that afternoon, the barracuda and the griffins went the

TEDDY BEAR TOSS As it was during the inaugural season, One of the more successful
promotions that the san jose barracuda ran was their teddy bear toss.
On december 17th, all fans who Attended the game brought new or lightly
used teddy bears with them to Their seats which they could throw on the
Ice when the barracuda scored their first goal of the game.
With just over a minute left in the first period, marcus sorensen broke
Free from the defense and snapped his 10 game pointless streak with the
First goal of the game. Over 2500 teddy bears were collected thrown
Onto the ice and later donated to a number of local charities. Some of
the bears were also held aside So they could be hand delivered by
barracuda players around the pediatric wing at the Kaiser Permanente
Santa Clara location.

GIFTS AND GOALS Right before Christmas, the barracuda held their second annual Gifts
and goals event. For this event, each barracuda player is Responsible for
buying a gift for a child associated with a local youth organization.
Without the help Of the barracuda players, many of these children would
not receive gifts For the holidays. This season, All of the children were
associated with school health clinics of Santa Clara county.
Thanks to barracuda captain john mCcarthy and goalie troy grosenick,
the team Had 100% player participation in the event. All of the players
Bought The gifts themselves and over $3,000 worth of toys were given To
the children.
Following the barracuda game on December 18th, players Personally gave
their gifts to the children who were in attendance that Night. Each child
also received a photo and an autographed puck from the Player who
Bought them their gift.

MEET AND GREETs Following the barracuda games on April 1st, head coach Roy Sommer
took time to speak to members of the silicon valley down syndrome
Network and the down syndrome connection in honor of down syndrome
Awareness night. A week later, coach sommer met with the bay area
autism Society and friends of children with special needs as a part of
Autism awareness night. Coach sommer spoke to The groups about being
a head coach, his daily routine and having his son Marley, who has both
down syndrome and autism, help out in the locker room.
Early on in the year the san jose barracuda made a hospital visit and
While there, Colin blackwell befriended a young girl named paris who was
Battling cancer. On valentine’s day, paris came to Watch Colin and the
rest of the barracuda who visited her in the hospital. After the game, she
Got a chance to meet with colin and other barracuda players.

‘CUDA KIDS CLUB The ‘Cuda kids club is a fan engagement program for kids ages 12 and
Under. Fans could sign up their kids at any barracuda home game for
Just $10 and with their membership they received all kinds of amazing

This season, the ‘cuda kids club sold all 750 available memberships and
Had 80 additional free sign ups after all memberships were accounted
For. all 750 members received a Personalized member card, kids club
t-shirt, ticket to a barracuda game plus a number of discounts on tickets
And barracuda merchandise. The first 500 members to sign up also
Received an exclusive frenzy bobblehead.
Members were also invited to a couple of special events throughout the
Season including a private viewing of barracuda practice, a barracuda
bite night skate at sharks ice, a Number of gameday experiences and an
End of the year party at California's great america.

Street team Whether they are handing out Barracuda swag at a giveaway table or
helping you brush up on your slapshot technique, the San Jose
Barracuda Street Team can be found at a number of events throughout
the year. The barracuda Street team is responsible for many things but
their most important job Is being the connection between the community,
our fans and the team.
This season, the barracuda street team has made over 100 visits to local
Schools, fairs, festivals, farmer’s markets, and a number of other major
Community events. The street team also played a vital role on game days
As they managed chuck-a-puck, kids club, and frenzy’s fun zone.

Frenzy’s fun zone A brand new addition to barracuda games this season was frenzy’s fun
Zone. This family friendly area on the concourse of sap center can only

FRENZY With a year under his belt, frenzy is expanding his reach around the bay
Area. In the past year, Frenzy has made over 150 appearances at various
Fairs, festivals, schools, hockey rinks, birthdays, and barracuda games.

Classic in lehigh valley, the santa teresa little league hit-a-thon, bowling
For badges, and the Fitness faceoff.

YOUTH HOCKEY In january, the san jose barracuda made multiple visits to solar4america
Ice at san jose to help run youth hockey practices for the jr sharks.
Highlights of These practices included troy grosenick giving a private
Goaltending lesson to members of the jr sharks Pee Wee 11AAA and 12AAA
teams. Barracuda forwards nikolay goldobin and nikita jevpalovs also
Volunteered to help out with two of the girls squirt house league teams.
The san jose barracuda also took part in a number of other events at
Solar4america iceduring the season including valley Christian hockey
class, the Silver stick tournament, learn to skate lessons on Saturday
Mornings, and barracuda bite night where fans were invited to Come and
skate at a barracuda themed public session.
