HONEYDEW SECTOR 2 Community Policing Forum
GENERAL
Message from Chairman – John Baisley
Hi all fellow neighbours in Honeydew Sector 2,
Sector 2 of the Honeydew policing precinct is one of four sectors that falls
under the Honeydew police station. The sector’s boundaries are Beyers
Naude in the north, Christiaan de Wet in the west, the N1 in the east and
Wilhelmina Drive/Constantia Drive in the south. It is a vast area.
Within the sector we have a number of resident associations. A resident
association (RA), also called a block watch or neighbourhood watch, is
an area where the residents have decided they need to get involved in
the fight against crime. They have decided on various measures to
combat crime, amongst others, being the erection of cameras,
Whatsapp groups and the appointment of a dedicated security
company to patrol their streets. The police cannot prevent crime on their
own and neither can a security company. It takes all three entities,
police, security companies and you, working together to fight crime.
I urge you, if you are not already an RA member, to please get involved
and support your community. The initiatives of an RA are to the benefit of
all. Please see where you fit in and contact your chairman. All contact
details on following page.
We have some RA’s that have been running for many years and are very
successful and we have some new kids in the sector.
The chairpersons support one another and are in regular contact.
I hope to bring you a regular newsletter on what is going on in the sector.
Please support your RA as only together can we make a difference.
To quote John Donne, “no man is an island”. Do not under estimate the
value of an RA. More on an RA next time.
Stay safe,
John Baisley

the sector.

SAPS
The recent crime statistics that were released for the last financial
year do not make for pleasant reading. Of course we need to
look at the stats for Honeydew and furthermore to crimes that
largely relate to our sector. Whilst we cannot breakdown the
crime for the sector we do note that over the past months;-
- Burglaries,
- Theft of cars,
- Theft out of cars,
- Hijacking and
- Home invasions
have been our biggest concerns. These crimes are largely
preventable by the partnership mentioned above.

Sector 2 Fun Run
A sector initiative that was started some time ago is the annual sector 2 Fun Run. It brings residents
from all over together in a crime awareness event and also in support of the Honeydew Trauma
Unit. The 2016 event was held on 10 September and we, as the sector 2, committee thank all of
those that attended. It grows ever year.
