WITH YOUR

PARENTS!

Welcome to Loyola! Congratulations on choosing Loyola University Chicago. The next four years are going to be some of the most memorable and transformative years of your life.

Your time in the classroom, on campus, in the city, abroad, or at our Retreat and Ecology Campus will give you a deeper understanding of yourself, your community, and the world. In all of these places, you will find opportunities to engage with issues of transformative justice, and your understanding of these issues will grow through activities such as alter-native break immersion trips, community-based service learning, and learning communities.

As you embark on this new journey, I encourage you to take advantage of the many programs and opportunities available here at Loyola. This booklet will help prepare you for the first step in your Loyola Experience this summer, starting at Orientation. We look forward to welcoming you to campus in the fall.

Sincerely,

JOHN P. PELISSERO, PhD Interim President

What is Orientation? It will be the start of your unique Loyola Experience. You will also build community by making new friends and meeting with faculty and staff.

When does it take place? For incoming Honors students and Quinlan School of Business Honors students, Orientation will take place on July 11–12. Your placement assessments are due May 22. Please review your status page to see which placement tests you need to take at LUC.edu/apply. If you are unable to attend the July 11–12 Orientation, please contact us at 773.508.7410.

How do I register for classes? As an Honors or Quinlan School of Business Honors student, you will register for classes before Orientation. Complete the advising assessment form at LUC.edu/orientation as soon as possible. Your academic advisor will contact you through your Loyola e-mail upon completion describing:

Who can come with me?Your parents, family, or others involved and invested in your transition to Loyola are welcome to attend. Parents and guests follow a different schedule of sessions that focus on how they can help you be successful in college. On-campus lodging is available for parents and guests at a minimal cost, or they can elect to find their own lodging at a hotel with a Loyola discount. Information on lodging for parents and guests can be found at LUC.edu/orientation.

What should I bring? If you have not yet submitted these items, please plan to bring your final high school transcript, proof of immunizations, and AP/IB scores.
