Habitat Celebrations
Above: 500th Home Ribbon Cutting, December 20, 2018
On December 20, 2018, Habitat dedicated four new homes: #497 with Tiffany, #498 with MeShia, #499 with Leslie, and the monumental #500 with Tamaisha. Out of the 1,200+ Habitat affiliates across the country, only 25 have reached the milestone of 500 homes. Evansville is #26. This amazing accomplishment would not have been possible without our dedicated volunteers, our generous donors, and our determined homeowners. Welcome home!
The build-up to this celebration included the 500-voice choir that performed at the University of Evansville versus Ball State men’s basketball game on December 9, 2018, the successful Change for Change campaign that raised a whopping $4,122.13, and our fantastic 500@$100 team which raised over $37,000! In November, the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana faced off for a “Battle of the Banks” competition and together raised more funds for Habitat in the spirit of playful competition. Many thanks to the Community Ambassadors, an amazing team of volunteers who helped drive all aspects of the 500th Home Celebration!
So, what’s next?
Evansville Habitat has another big celebration coming up, and we want you to be a part of it. Friday, July 12th will be Habitat’s Night to Celebrate the Otters’ 25th Anniversary! Join us at Bosse Field as we root for the Evansville Otters against the Lake Erie Crushers. We have tickets for you and your whole family! Starting June 1st, pick up your tickets at the participating locations around Evansville. But it doesn’t stop there – this game will be a Ballpark Reunion for our 500-voice choir that performed at the UE game in December! If you participated in our joyous choir in December and want to again, or if you want to join in the fun this time around, please email [email protected] to get signed up.
This fun-filled evening will celebrate the Otters’ 25th anniversary and promote their half-home sponsorship! That’s right – the Otters will be partnering with Eyewitness News to sponsor a new home in the Jacobsville Neighborhood for future homeowner Kimiko V. Join us July 12th if you want to have a good time celebrating the Otters and their support of Habitat!

Home Maintenance Tipfrom Patrick Landry, Habitat’s Construction Director …
As the rainy season approaches, open crawl space vents (if you have them) and verify that your crawl space is dry and that your sump pump is operating properly. Also, make sure all gutters and downspouts are free of debris. Clean out any leaves or debris that have collected in your plant beds or low places in your yard. All of this will allow for the rain to get to the places it should and out of the places it shouldn’t.Page 4

Vectren kicks off partnership with Evansville housing organizations for community revitalization
On May 14, 2019, Vectren kicked off their $5.5 million workforce housing investment in Evansville. Key partners in this initiative include Habitat for Humanity of Evansville, HOPE of Evansville, and Catholic Charities. Vectren is investing $1 million to support housing and community development initiatives in the Jacobsville neighborhood. Habitat will receive $500,000 to provide gap funding for 20 homes in the Jacobsville neighborhood over the next four years. The remaining $4.5 million will support multi-family workforce housing throughout the city. During this kickoff, the mayor joined with other volunteers to raise a wall on Tiffany’s home – the first home built as a part of this collaborative partnership.
Thank you to Vectren for partnering with Habitat and other housing partners to help provide workforce housing and improve quality of life right here in Evansville!

“Since my son was born, my main goal has been to provide a home for him, one we can call our own. I really don’t think I would be able to provide that without Habitat for Humanity. Our future will include a safe and happy home, one where my son can grow and thrive.”
