CommUnity
A year of impact
CommUnity
Dear Friends of Hope CommUnity Center,
As we look forward to another year, we pause to celebrate a year of growth at Hope CommUnity Center, those we have been blessed to serve and the many donors, advocates, volunteers and partners that make our work a reality.
This past year, when the Apopka Family Learning Center closed its doors, a window opened for Hope CommUnity Center. AFLC had been a sister organization of Hope’s for years, offering services to the Central Florida area. Hope embraced the opportunity to open a second campus.
We look forward to another year and the opportunities and challenges the addition of a second campus in South Apopka brings. A much-needed second campus is helping to expand our outreach and to eliminate a serious parking shortage, an overcrowded program space and a serious lack of offices for staff. Most importantly, a second campus opens the doors to continue work with partners like you to impact the lives of more people in our community.
As we look forward to another year, we continue to be inspired by the changes we witness each day. Behind all the statistics are real people whose lives are forever changed for the better by not only those who come to be served but also those who come to serve. Additionally, we at Hope count ourselves among those who have been forever changed by the people and this work.
To our donors, advocates, volunteers and partners, we extend our heartfelt thanks. Your generosity and support are what propel the work we do on a daily basis. Lives are forever changed for the better because of YOU!

It’s All About CommUnity Coming TogetherThe ongoing success of Hope CommUnity Center happens because of its strong board, dedicated staff, community members, donors, and volunteers. We count on you! We depend on you! Hope’s acquisition of the former Apopka Family Learning Center and its needed improvements could not have happened without you. Both the building and land were purchased with the help of generous donations from Sisters: Builders of a Just Community and Disney. Thank you for your trust in us and for helping Hope live its mission.
Hope CommUnity Center is a service learning community dedicated to the empowerment of Central Florida’s immigrant and working poor community through education, advocacy and spiritual growth.

Our 32 AmeriCorps(NDA) members also extended their hearts and hands to our community. Six served as HCC staff.
The former Apopka Family Learning Center building came back to life in early 2016 because of over 2200 hours of volunteer help from 210 of Hope’s board members, volunteers, staff, community, and generous donors like you.
To make this possible, we were honored to have been given an outpouring of donations:• $250,000 from Disney• $250,000 from Sisters: Builders of a Just Community• $10,000 from Ascension Church for technology• $1850 from Helena Chemicals for soil nutrients• $5000 from Florida Paints for interior paint• $1500 from Ultimate in Framing • $5000 from Sea Maiden Pools for outdoor furniture and a new patio• $2000 from Efrain Rodriguez for a freezer, ice-maker, and mulch• $1000 from Orlando City Soccer for playground equipment• $1300 from Curtis Smith of Axis for security cameras
The Hope CommUnity Center family thanks everyone who made this journey possible.
Bigger Budget, Generous Donations, Same Fiscal ResponsibilityThis past year, Hope has increased its budget and staff in order to offer more quality services to a community whose needs continue to grow. We want you to know that such increases are done by consensus from a very dedicated Board of Directors and a strong Leadership Team. Such decisions are only made after a very careful analysis of Hope’s financials and after a risk assessment are completed. Know that we are careful and conservative stewards of your money.
We are grateful for your confidence and continued investment and partnership with Hope CommUnity Center. A copy of our audit is available upon request. Current and previous annual reports are available on our website:www.hcc-offm.org. Thank you from all of us at HCC.
For everyone who made this year possible, thank you!
