The Federal Privacy Regulation, HIPPA-Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act prohibit hospitals and nursing homes from informing Churches of a patients presence unless the patient re-quests and gives them permission. If you ask someone on the medical staff to call us it can take several days for them to notify us! We care very deeply about you and want to provide spiritual support or prayers for you!

The Kenosha VITA Coalition consists of United Way of Kenosha County, the Kenosha County Job Center and Carthage College. During tax season, households that earn up to $54,000 annually can receive help having their taxes prepared for FREE by a tax-certified volunteer at one of our in-person tax sites. LENT - ANOTHER GOD SEARCH
Usually Lent and spring begin at about the same time. Trees begin to bud, flowers reach toward the sun, birds reestab-lish their homes, and Christians are invited to rediscover God. This year Lent has arrived, but spring seems a very long way off. Our Lenten journey has be-gun providing us the opportunity to search for God, not because he is lost, but because we have been given yet another chance
to find him anew. It is appropriate that we enter Lent filled with the desire to set things right, to remind ourselves that we can do better, and to search again for the God who is always there but often forgotten. This effort will require that we begin our journeys determined to realign our words with our actions and follow the path of discipleship that Jesus traveled for love of us. Jesuit theologian Avery Dulles believed that “theologically it is correct to say that the very desire to find God is evidence that God is drawing us to himself. To find him, in the last analysis,
is to be found by him.” Jesus and the devil both quote Scripture in today’s Gospel. However, as spiritual writer Alice Camille reminds us, “in the case of Jesus, his words and his life are perfectly in synch. What comes from his lips is also in his heart, and that integrity bore him from the desert to the cross without contradiction or exception. As Jesus demonstrates, our own resources are not what we rely on. God alone is sufficient.” Let us begin again, hoping we can rediscover our God. Lent is designed for that purpose. We begin our search knowing that discovery will be easier if we turn our minds toward prayer, enlarge our efforts to share, and keep our stomachs less full. We have been given another chance to search. Let’s be about it, remembering the words of the prophet Jeremiah, “When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, says the Lord, your God.” [Jeremiah 29:12-14] ~ Deacon Wilson Shierk

· We find Jesus when we come face to face with him in whose image we are made and make every effort to love, to serve, and to forgive in harmony with his image.
· We find Jesus when we surrender our false and distorted images of him that keep him at a safe and comfortable distance.
· We find Jesus when we cultivate a new responsiveness to grace as we welcome his involvement in our lives.
· We find Jesus when we take him whenever and wherever we go and allow his companionship to impact all we say and do.
· We find Jesus when we return to our baptismal roots through which we were first initiated into the community of the church.
· We find Jesus when we look at gospel demands, and decide whether we take him at his word or dilute or defer his demands.
