From Boai'd of Public Works. Mr. Thompson, representat ive of
Kelly-Springfield, made oral propoei-tion as follows: Will ship a t once the Kelly-Springfield gasoline two-cylinder ten-ton roller, with scarifier, to be rented by city until July 1, 1918, a t rental of $1,600.00, allowing $600.00 for old roller, and $1,000.00 to be paid in 30 days. At expiration of rental pei'iod city can purchase for $3,-9 5 0.00, deducting rental $1,600.00 leaving balance of $2,350.00.
Mr. W. Cornwell presented the following proposition:

t in Western Road Machinery Co., of Chicago, 111., I am pleased to offer herewith my proposal for furnishing the City of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with one of our rollers complete, with scarifier at tached, and with all tools and a t t achments regularly furnished with said machine-—subject to tha t e rms and conditions hereafter named.
We will ship a t once one—ten ton Austin single cylinder motor roller, with pneumat ic scarifier, as i l lustrated and described, complete in every detail, and in accordance with the specifications submitted with our formal bid—will pay the freight, and on its arr ival here will furnish a competent operator to unload and put it to work on your streets, under the direction of your Engineer or other proper official. You on your pa r t agree to furnish a man who is to run the machine, and aleo such assistance and fuel as may be necessary in the actual unloading and running, and our expert will remain here to teach your operator t h e ' care and operation of the machine (such instruction to be without expense to the city) until such t ime as you are thoroughly satisfied that the roller is according to our guarantees, and is formally accepted by you.
Providing the machine is in accordance with our guarantees and capable of doing the work for which it is intended, in an efficient and thorough manner , you agree to accept it for a rental period ending July 1st, 1918, and agree to pay as rent for this per
iod t he sum of four hundred dollars ($400.00) in cash on Dec. 1st 1917, and four hundred dollars ($400.00) in cash on May 1st, 1918, ana to deliver the machine F. O. B. cars immediately upon expiration of the rental period.
In the event, however, of your deciding to purchase the machine a t any t ime from now on to tha t date, viz.. July 1st, 1918, we agree to allow the above amount paid as rental to apply on the purchase price as bid formally to you, viz., $3000.00 and your old roller, together with interest at ti percent on the defered amount from date of acceptance to date of purchase.
But should you find the machine not up to our representat ions and unable to accomplish ite tasks In the amount described, then we will reload the machine and re turn it to the factory without any additional expense or obligation on your par t . Respectfully submitted, W. Cornwell,

Street Committee. To the Honorable, the Common
Council: Gent lemen—Whereas , G. F r a n k Allmendinger has presented two deeds to the city for street purposes in the Second ward of the city of Ann Arbor, and
Whereas, said deeds have been approved by the City Attoi-ney and Whereas , in the opinion or th is commit tee said deeds should be accepted in order to open and widen certain s t reets in said ward, now therefore be it
Resolved, tha t the deeds from said G. Frankl in Allmendinger and wife to the said city, of land to be used for street purposes, be and are hereby accepted.
Whereas , G. F r a n k Allmendinger and wife has presented a deed to the city of Ann Arbor of two parcels of land said land to be used f o r ' p a r k purposes, and
Whereas, said deed has been approved by the City Attorney, and
Whereas, this commit tee has investigated the mat te r and deem it advisable to accept said land, now therefore be it Resolved, tha t the deed from G. Whereas , the city entered into an agreement with G. F r a n k Allmendinger and wife t ha t it would accept a certain parcel of land In the Second ward of the city, for park purposes, and t ha t the city would pay Mr. Allmendinger for grading the Streets a round said park the sum of $300.00 and
Whereas , all s treets have been prop-edly graded and have been accepted by the Street committee and City Engineer, now therefore, be it

Council: Gent lemen—Your sidewalk commit tee respectfully recommends tha t the following sidewalks 1 ordered built and the following resolution adopted:
Resolved, tha t the grading and construct ion of the sidewalks hereinafter ment ioned is deemed and declared to be a necessary public improvem.nt .
Therefore , l t is hereby ordered tha t s tone or cement sidewalks be graded, built and constructed in the City of Ann Arbor, on and along the north side of Washington st. from Crest Hve. west to No. 1-12 West Wash-no-ton St. Lot No. 9 Huron Crest Sub
division, Clarence G. and Eva Cobb. Catherine st, side of No. 210 No.
