Rica Seats manufactures and refurbishes seats for mass transit vehicles. We started making train seats in 1994 and our main customers are Transtech Ltd. and Finnish National Railways or VR. In this time over 40 000 seats and interior components have been delivered and installed.

Since the seats are made to fit the requirements of a specific vehicle or coach, each series is different and requires a high degree of custom work. Our experience allows for flexibility to answer this challenge: we can either use finished blueprints or, alternatively, design and model the entire seat from scratch. Naturally, each product comes with a full range of customisable add-ons and upholstery options, borne out of years of cooperation with the best suppliers in the field.

Our seats are based on a variety of structures, including metal frame and honeycomb. As we have manufactured train seats right from our beginnings, we have accumulated considerable body of know-how applicable to all production stages. This know-how is continuously leveraged to offer products of superior workmanship. A testament to that is the market leadership in Finland and growing international sales.

Rica Northern Lights is the very latest innovative addition to our family of seats. Developed in close cooperation with Atlantic Design (a British design agency specialising in railway interiors), the seat reflects the important operator ideas for seat features with emphasis on space efficiency, light weight and passenger comfort. Extensive use of aluminium in a form of aluminium honeycomb and extrusions has created a product that can be more than 40 % lighter than conventional seats.

Aluminium honeycomb reduces the need for high investment tooling and therefore individual customer requirements can be acquired in a cost effective way. This is a revolutionary development, designed with flexibility in mind. Customers are able to select from variety of cushion designs and trim options and we look forward to discussing your particular requirements.

Ukko is a natural extension of the Rica aluminium honeycomb structural philosophy. Utilising the same revolutionary construction as the Northern Lights seat, Ukko delivers an efficient, durable, easy access seat perfect for tram and light rail applications. It also provides design flexibility to suit customer requirements. The primary benefit of the seat is the honeycomb-based structure of the backrest, which provides considerable room for adjustment.

Velocity seats have been a success for Rica Seats. Velocity 1 is the big brother of Velocity 2 and it is used as a standard 1st class seat in rail cars all over Finland. The basic structure of the seat is the same in both models but Velocity 1 has a wider seat and backrest to bring more comfort for long-distance journeys.

These models have a good size folding table, adjustable backrest and neck pillow. If you are looking for a firm and reliable train seat, this is definitely something you should try!

If you want to have flexibility to your coach layout, Rica Seat’s Orbital is the answer. This particular seat model comes as a normal two-seated version but also as a one-seat option. You can turn this seat completely around its central axis which allows different options for seat arrangements.

With the one-seat model it is easy to change the direction of the seat by pushing the lever on the side of the seat. In addition, the seat frame is built the way that there is no need for pulling the seat away from the wall.

This is one of the first models we created for local trains and other short distance routes and it is still going strong without any complaints. The secret behind its durability is the stainless steel frame and strong design.

Rica Basic comes with many customer friendly features. Its modular construction allows quick replacement of damaged seats and change of seat arrangement, if necessary. The build-in trash receptacles help to keep the coaches tidy. If you are looking for a reliable basic seat, this is the model for you.

Rica Seats also offers a wide range of additional parts and solutions that are specifically designed to meet different types of passenger needs.

Rica Seats has introduced other innovative solutions for coach interiors. The most recent example is the expandable table with a twist. Unlike traditional folding tables, with this table model you can widen your work space without disturbing the passenger next to you. This feature also allows you to easily hide the extension inside the table structure, so if you want to have more traditional look for the table, just slide your part in. Well suited for laptop use!

Restaurant car furnishing is another example of Rica Seat’s creativity. We have manufactured and partly designed different solutions especially to these kinds of projects.
