For the third straight match, Jarry dropped the first set in a tiebreak, and once again the resilient Chilean rallied to victory as he defeated Horacio Zeballos to move into his maiden ATP World Tour final. Jarry has won all four matches this week in three sets, including a QF victory over No. 1 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas, as he looks to become the first Chilean to win an ATP World Tour singles title since Fernando Gonzalez won on home soil at 2009 Vina del Mar (d. Acasuso). In his run to the final, Jarry has fired a tournament-leading 49 aces through four matches and has won 58 of 64 service games as he tries to become the first Chilean to win the Sao Paulo title since Nicolas Massu in 2006 (d. A. Martin). Jarry came into 2018 with a 5-10 career record on the ATP World Tour, but the South American clay-court swing has proven to be Jarry's coming-out party, with his progression in each of the last three tournaments. He reached his first ATP World Tour QF at Quito (l. to eventual champion Carballes Baena) last month and first ATP World Tour SF at Rio de Janeiro (l. to eventual champion Schwartzman) last week. With his run to the Sao Paulo final, Jarry takes a 12-4 record into his first meeting with Fognini. Jarry, who finished 2017 at No. 100 in the ATP Rankings, will move from No. 73 to No. 61, and climb to No. 53 if he wins the title. Fognini, who returned to the Top 20 in the ATP Rankings this week for the first time since February 1, 2015, dethroned three-time defending champion Pablo Cuevas to move into the 15th ATP World Tour final of his career and first since taking the title at Gstaad last July (d. Hanfmann). The Italian No. 1 has taken a completely different path to the final than Jarry, not losing a set in three matches. He leads the tournament in service games won (96%, 26 of 27) and return games won (39%, 11 of 28) as he attempts to become the first Italian to win the Sao Paulo title since the tournament began in 2001. The 30-year-old Fognini has a 5-9 lifetime record in ATP World Tour finals, with all five titles won on clay (2013 Stuttgart, d. Kohlschreiber; 2013 Hamburg, d. Delbonis; 2014 Vina del Mar (d. L. Mayer); 2016 Umag, d. Martin; 2017 Gstaad, d. Hanfmann). Fognini has gotten off to a solid start in 2018, going 13-4, including the SF at Sydney (l. to eventual champion Medvedev) and Rio de Janeiro (l. to Verdasco) before his impressive run to the final this week. The doubles final will feature No. 4 seeds Wesley Koolhof of The Netherlands and Artem Sitak of New Zealand taking on unseeded Argentines Federico Delbonis and Maximo Gonzalez in a first-time matchup. Koolhof and Sitak advanced to their second ATP World Tour doubles final of the year (New York, l. to Mirnyi/Oswald) by defeating the Argentine tandem of Carlos Berlocq and Nicolas Kicker, 6-3, 6-3, in Saturday's semi-finals. "COMEBACK KID" JARRY FACES FOGNINI FOR SAO PAULO TITLE

Nicolas Jarry has thrived under pressure all week in Sao Paulo, and on Sunday, the 22-year-old "comeback kid" from Chile could cap his incredible run through the draw with his first career ATP World Tour singles title when he battles No. 2 seed Fabio Fognini for the Brasil Open crown.

For the third straight match, Jarry dropped the first set in a tiebreak, and once again the resilient Chilean rallied to victory as he defeated Horacio Zeballos to move into his maiden ATP World Tour final. Jarry has won all four matches this week in three sets, including a QF victory over No. 1 seed Albert

SAO PAULO SEMIS FEATURE CUEVAS-FOGNINI, JARRY-ZEBALLOS

No. 3 seed Pablo Cuevas looks to move one victory away from a fourth straight Sao Paulo title when he faces No. 2 seed Fabio Fognini in the Brasil Open semi-finals Saturday afternoon, followed by red-hot Chilean Nicolas Jarry taking on Horacio Zeballos for a spot in Sunday's final.

Cuevas extended his Sao Paulo winning streak to 15 matches with a hard-fought three-set victory over No. 5 seed Leonardo Mayer in Friday's QF. The three-time defending champion was pushed to the limit in his QF victory, needing five match points before prevailing in a third-set tiebreak to conclude the nearly three-hour match. The 32-year-old from Uruguay is now 18-5 lifetime in Sao Paulo. He won his first title here in 2015 (d. Vanni) and successful defended his crown in 2016 (d. Carreno Busta) and 2017 (d. Ramos-Vinolas). Cuevas is appearing in his first ATP World Tour SF since the ATP World Tour

Masters 1000 Madrid last May (l. to Thiem). With a victory, Cuevas would advance to his first ATP World Tour final since capturing his third straight Sao Paulo title last year.

Fognini, who returned to the Top 20 in the ATP Rankings this week for the first time since February 1, 2015, advanced to his third ATP World Tour SF of the year, his second in as many weeks, and second career Sao Paulo SF by defeating Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in straight sets on Friday. The Italian No. 1 reached the Sao Paulo SF in 2008 (l. to eventual champion Almagro) and is 11-7 lifetime here, also reached the QF in 2010 (l. to Kubot), 2015 (l. to Giraldo) and 2017 (l. to Carreno Busta). Fognini also advanced to the SF last week in Rio de Janeiro (l. to Verdasco) and at Sydney in January (l. to eventual champion Medvedev). A victory would move Fognini into his 15th career ATP World Tour final (5-9) and first since winning the Gstaad title in 2017 (d. Hanfmann). Cuevas and Fognini have met five times on the ATP World Tour, with Fognini holding a 3-2 edge, although the two have not played on clay since Cuevas won their SF encounter in Umag in 2014.

For the second straight match, Jarry rallied from a set down to win a third-set tie-break, this time eliminating No. 1 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the QF. Jarry, who also came back from a set down to defeat No. 6 seed Guido Pella in the 2R, has won three three-set matches this week en route to his second straight ATP World Tour SF. He is the first Chilean to reach back-to-back SF since Fernando Gonzalez in 2009 at Barcelona and ATP Masters 1000 Rome. The 22-year Jarry entered this season with a 5-10 career match record and has blossomed in 2018, posting an 11-4 record heading into Saturday's semi-finals. He has reached the QF or better in three straight tournaments during the South American clay-court swing, reaching his first ATP World Tour QF at Quito (l. to eventual champion Carballes Baena) last month and first ATP World Tour SF at Rio de Janeiro (l. to eventual champion Schwartzman) last week. Jarry finished 2017 at No. 100 in the ATP Rankings, but will move from No. 73 to No. 66 with his SF showing, jump to No. 61 if he reaches the final and climb to No. 53 if he wins his first ATP World Tour title.

Zeballos advanced to his first ATP World Tour SF of the year and first in Sao Paulo by rallying from a set down to defeat local favorite Rogerio Dutra Silva. Like Jarry, the 32-year-old Argentine has won three consecutive three-set matches this week to reach his first ATP World Tour SF since 2017 Barcelona (l. to Nadal). He outlasted 2009 finalist Thomaz Bellucci in the 1R and No. 4 seed Gael Monfils in the 2R. Zeballos is seeking his first ATP World Tour final since winning the title at Vina del Mar in 2013 (d. Nadal). This will be the first ATP-level meeting between Jarry and Zeballos, with the Argentine taking two of three matches from Jarry on the Challenger circuit, all on clay.

RAMOS-VINOLAS-JARRY CLASH, CUEVAS HIGHLIGHT SAO PAULO QF

A very determined No. 1 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas takes on red-hot Chilean Nicolas Jarry, while No. 3 seed Pablo Cuevas continues his march toward a fourth straight Sao Paulo title as quarter-final action takes place Friday at the Brasil Open.

Not only is Ramos-Vinolas looking to win a title he came so close to capturing last year, when he won the first set against Cuevas before the Uruguayan rallied to victory, the Spaniard is also looking to avenge a R16 loss to Jarry last week in Rio de Janeiro. On Thursday, the World No. 22 from Spain fired 14 aces en route to a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Brazilian qualifier Guilherme Clezar. The 30-year-old Ramos-Vinolas is seeking his second ATP World Tour final of the year, having finished runner-up in Quito last month (l. to Carballes Baena).

Jarry continued his impressive run on South American clay by edging past No. 6 seed Guido Pella in a third-set TB on Thursday to move into his third straight ATP World Tour QF. The 22-year-old Chilean entered 2018 with a 5-10 career record on the ATP World Tour, and he has already won 10 matches this season. He reached his first ATP World Tour QF at Quito (l. to eventual champion Carballes Baena) last month and first ATP World Tour SF at Rio de Janeiro (l. to eventual champion Schwartzman) last week. Jarry is the first Chilean to reach the QF (or better) in three straight ATP-level tournaments since Fernando Gonzalez in 2009 (Barcelona, Rome, Washington).

Cuevas looks to extend his Sao Paulo winning streak to 15 matches when he meets No. 5 seed Leonardo Mayer to kick off quarter-final play on Centre Court Friday afternoon. The two have split two prior meetings on the ATP World Tour, but this will be their first matchup on clay and first encounter since the 2014 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Paris, when Cuevas advanced as Mayer retired in the second set of their R64 match. On Wednesday, Cuevas improved to 17-5 lifetime in Sao Paulo by defeating Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner in straight sets. The 32-year-old Cuevas won his first title here in 2015 (d. Vanni) and successful defended his crown in 2016 (d. Carreno Busta) and 2017 (d. Ramos-Vinolas). Cuevas is appearing in his second straight ATP World Tour QF, having reached the final eight last week in Rio de Janeiro (l. to Jarry). After saving two match points in his 1R win over Gastao Elias, Mayer advanced to his second ATP World Tour QF of the year, and third career Sao Paulo QF, by defeating fellow Argentine Carlos Berlocq on Wednesday. Mayer, a quarter-finalist at Buenos Aires last month (d. Fognini, l. to Monfils), also reached the Sao Paulo QF in 2012 (l. to Bellucci) and 2015 (l. to Souza) and is 6-4 lifetime. The 30-year-old Mayer is seeking his first ATP World Tour SF since winning the Hamburg title last July (d. F. Mayer).

The second quarter-final match on Centre Court features No. 2 seed Fabio Fognini of Italy taking on unseeded Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Fognini holds a 4-3 edge in their FedEx ATP Head2Head, with Garcia-Lopez winning their most recent encounter in the R64 at the 2016 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Rome. On Wednesday, Fognini celebrated his return to the Top 20 in the ATP Rankings for the first time since February 1, 2015 by defeating Portuguese qualifier Joao Domingues. Fognini is appearing in his fifth career Sao Paulo QF and third in the last four years. He advanced to the Sao Paulo SF in 2008 (l. to eventual champion Almagro) and also reached the QF in 2010 (l. to Kubot), 2015 (l. to Giraldo) and 2017 (l. to Carreno Busta). The Italian No. 1 is seeking his second straight ATP World Tour SF after his run last week in Rio de Janeiro (l. to Verdasco). Garcia-Lopez advanced to his second ATP World Tour QF of the year by eliminating 2014 champion Federico Delbonis on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old Spaniard, who reached the QF at Buenos Aires last month (d. Berlocq and Carreno Busta, l. to Delbonis), had not won a match in Sao Paulo since 2005 before putting together back-to-back wins this week heading into his matchup with Fognini. A win would move Garcia-Lopez into his first ATP World Tour SF since 2016 Bucharest (l. to Verdasco).

Surprising local favorite Rogerio Dutra Silva wraps up the afternoon session when he takes on Horacio Zeballos of Argentina. Zeballos won both meetings with Dutra Silva in 2017, taking their R32 encounters on the clay in Houston and Kitzbuehel. After entering this week winless in five matches on the ATP World Tour in 2018, Dutra Silva has won two straight matches after defeating Nicolas Kicker in straight sets on Thursday. The 34-year-old Brazilian had gone 1-5 in Sao Paulo before posting back-to-back wins this week. He is appearing in his third career ATP World Tour QF and first since Umag last July (l. to Giannessi). Dutra Silva is looking to become the first Brazilian to reach the Sao Paulo SF since [WC] Joao Souza in 2015. RAMOS-VINOLAS, MONFILS, JARRY HEADLINE PLAY IN SAO PAULO

No. 1 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas begins his quest for a second straight Sao Paulo final when he meets an opponent with newfound confidence in the form of Brazilian qualifier Guilherme Clezar as second-round play continues Thursday at the Brasil Open.

Ramos-Vinolas began his South American clay-court campaign by reaching his first ATP World Tour final of the year at Quito (l. to Carballes Baena). The World No. 22 from Spain followed that up with R16 showings at Buenos Aires (l. to Bedene) and Rio de Janeiro (l. to Jarry). He returns to Sao Paulo this week looking to win a title he came close to capturing last year, taking the first set against Pablo Cuevas in the final before losing in three sets. Clezar, ranked No. 225 in the world, notched his first career ATP World Tour match win in his 13th attempt by defeating countryman Thiago Monteiro on Tuesday. The 25-year-old Clezar matched Marco Cecchinato for the second highest number of ATP World Tour matches it took before winning their first main draw match. Nicolas Jarry looks to continue his recent success on South American clay as the Chilean takes on No. 6 seed Guido Pella of Argentina in the first match on Centre Court. Last month, Jarry achieved career milestones by advancing to his first ATP World Tour QF at Quito three weeks ago and first SF at Rio de Janeiro last week, losing to the eventual champion in both events (l. to Carballes Baena in Quito and Schwartzman in Rio de Janeiro). On Tuesday, Jarry held off Dusan Lajovic in three sets to improve to 6-2 over his last three tournaments. The 22-year-old Chilean's recent winning ways have allowed him to climb to a career-high No. 73 in this week's ATP Rankings. Pella needed three sets to get past #NextGenATP Frenchman Corentin Moutet on Tuesday. A victory would move the Argentine into his second straight Sao Paulo QF (l. to Ramos-Vinolas in 2017). Jarry and Pella have met twice on the Challenger circuit, both on clay, with the Chilean winning both encounters.

No. 4 seed Gael Monfils of France kicks off the evening session when he faces Horacio Zeballos of Argentina for the second straight week. Monfils prevailed in three sets in the R32 last week in Rio de Janeiro en route to the QF (l. to eventual champion Schwartzman). Sao Paulo marks the fourth straight South American clay-court tournament that Monfils has played in, with the Frenchman posting a 6-3 record that includes the QF in Quito (l. to Monteiro), SF in Buenos Aires (l. to Thiem) and QF in Rio de Janeiro (d. World No. 3 Cilic in 2R, l. to Schwartzman). Zeballos defeated local favorite and 2009 finalist Thomaz Bellucci in three sets on Tuesday and is seeking his second career Sao Paulo QF (d. Cuevas, Pella, l. to Haas).

The final R16 match of the day features unseeded players Rogerio Dutra Silva of Brazil and Nicolas Kicker of Argentina squaring off. This will be their first meeting on the ATP World Tour, with Dutra Silva taking both previous matchups on the Challenger circuit, both in three sets on clay. Dutra Silva won his first ATP World Tour match since last October by eliminating No. 7 seed Tennys Sandgren on Tuesday, while Kicker defeated Victor Estrella Burgos to advance to the R16 for the second straight week (Rio de Janeiro, l. to Verdasco).

CUEVAS BEGINS QUEST FOR FOUR-PEAT IN SAO PAULO

The reigning "King of Sao Paulo," Pablo Cuevas, starts his quest for a fourth straight Brasil Open title when he faces Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner in one of four R16 matches scheduled on Wednesday.

The three-time defending champion from Uruguay has won 13 straight matches in Sao Paulo. He captured his first Sao Paulo title in 2015 (d. Vanni) and followed that up with successful title defenses in 2016 (d. Carreno Busta) and 2017 (d. Ramos-Vinolas). Overall, Cuevas is 16-5 lifetime at this tournament. Cuevas arrived in Sao Paulo fresh off his best showing of 2018, also in Brazil, reaching the QF last week in Rio de Janeiro (l. to Jarry). In fact, the last four ATP World Tour titles that Cuevas has won have come on Brazilian soil (2016 Rio de Janeiro, d. Pella). Ofner set up the R16 encounter with Cuevas by defeating Marco Cecchinato in straight sets on Tuesday. The Austrian won their only previous meeting last year in a third-set tie-break in the 2R at Kitzbuehel en route to his first career ATP World Tour SF (l. to Sousa).

No. 5 seed Leonardo Mayer kicks off the action on Centre Court Wednesday afternoon when he meets fellow Argentine Carlos Berlocq for a spot in the QF. This will be the first ATP World Tour meeting between the two compatriots since 2013 Nice, with Berlocq winning their R32 match in straight sets. Mayer saved two match points against Gastao Elias on Monday and needed three hours to get past his Portuguese opponent in a third-set tie-break. He is a two-time quarter-finalist in Sao Paulo (2012, l. to Bellucci; 2015, l. to Souza) and is seeking his second ATP World Tour QF of the year (Buenos Aires, d. Fognini, l. to Monfils). Berlocq also rallied from a set down to defeat Brazilian teenager Thiago Seyboth Wild on Monday. A victory would move Berlocq into his fourth career QF at Sao Paulo (2010, l. to Ferrero); 2012 (l. to Almagro); and 2013 (l. to eventual champion Nadal).

The last player other than Cuevas to win the Sao Paulo title, 2014 champion Federico Delbonis (d. Lorenzi), is next up on Centre Court as the Argentine takes on Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain for a berth in the QF. This will be the second meeting this month between the two, with Delbonis winning their QF encounter in Buenos Aires, 6-3, 7-5, two weeks ago. Delbonis defeated Quito champion Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets on Monday, while Garcia-Lopez won his first match in San Paulo since 2005 by defeating Gerard Melzer in three sets.

In the third afternoon singles match on Centre Court, No. 2 seed Fabio Fognini takes on Portuguese qualifier Joao Domingues for the first time on the ATP World Tour. Fognini advanced to his second ATP World Tour SF of the year last week in Rio de Janeiro (l. to Verdasco), matching his showing in Sydney earlier this year (l. to eventual champion Medvedev). The Italian No. 1 reached the Sao Paulo SF in 2008 (l. to eventual champion Almagro) and is a three-time quarter-finalist here (2010, l. to Kubot; 2015, l. to Giraldo; 2017, l. to Carreno Busta). Domingues notched his first ATP World Tour match win of the year on Monday, rallying past qualifier Renzo Olivo in three sets. Ranked No. 194 in the world, Domingues has struggled in the early part of 2018, failing to get out of the qualifying rounds at the Australian Open (l. to Polansky in Q1); Buenos Aires (l. to Ruud in Q1); and Rio de Janeiro (l. to Cecchinato in Q1) before breaking through this week.

JARRY, FOUR BRAZILIANS HEADLINE DAY 2 ACTION IN SAO PAULO

Nicolas Jarry looks to continue his solid start to the South American clay-court campaign when the Chilean meets Dusan Lajovic of Serbia in one of seven opening-round matches slated Tuesday at the Brasil Open in Sao Paulo.

Competing for the first time in Sao Paulo, Jarry has reached career milestones over the month of February, reaching his first ATP World Tour QF at Quito three weeks ago and first ATP World Tour SF at Rio de Janeiro last week, losing to the eventual champion in both tournaments (l. to Carballes Baena in Quito and Schwartzman in Rio de Janeiro). The 22-year-old Chilean's recent success has catapulted him to a career-high No. 73 in the ATP Rankings this week. Lajovic, who reached the semi-finals at Sao Paulo in 2016 (l. to eventual champion Cuevas) and the QF in 2015 (l. to Vanni), looks to bounce back from a 1R loss to World No. 6 Dominic Thiem last week in Rio de Janeiro after reaching the R16 at Buenos Aires the week before (l. to Monfils). The Serbian won their only previous meeting in 2015 on clay in the R16 at Quito.

In the second singles match on Centre Court, No. 7 seed Tennys Sandgren of the United States faces one of four Brazilians in action Tuesday when he meets Rogerio Dutra Silva for the first time on the ATP World Tour. Last month, Sandgren advanced to his first Grand Slam QF at the Australian Open (l. to Chung) and saw his ATP Ranking improve 42 spots from No. 97 to a career-high No. 55. Since his run in Melbourne. the 26-year-old American has struggled a bit on clay, failing to get out of the qualifying round at Buenos Aires (l. to Bagnis in Q1) before reaching the R16 at Rio de Janeiro last week (d. Carballes Baena, l. to Fognini). Dutra Silva is looking to get into the win column for the first time in 2018 after five straight defeats. The Brazilian's last victory on the ATP World Tour came in the R32 at Moscow last October (d. Donskoy, l. to Sela).

The evening session on Centre Court features hometown favorite and 2009 finalist Thomaz Bellucci taking on Horacio Zeballos of Argentina. The Sao Paulo resident is making his 11th appearance in his home tournament, finishing runner-up to Tommy Robredo in the 2009 final and also reaching the SF in 2012 (l. to Volandri) and 2014 (l. to eventual champion Delbonis). Zeballos has the distinction of being the last player to defeat three-time defending champion Pablo Cuevas in Sao Paulo, winning their R32 encounter in 2014 en route to the QF (l. to Haas). The Argentine has also had doubles success in Sao Paulo, winning the 2016 title with Julio Peralta (d. Carreno Busta/Marrero). Bellucci won their only previous encounter in the R16 at Quito in 2015 in a third-set tie-break.

Two Brazilians square off in the second evening match when qualifier Guilherme Clezar faces wild card Thiago Monteiro. The compatriots are no strangers to one another, having faced each other six times covering the Futures and Challenger circuits (splitting their six matches), although this will be their first meeting on the ATP World Tour. Clezar has never won a main draw match in Sao Paulo, losing six consecutive matches (2011, 2013-2017). Monteiro, a quarter-finalist here in 2016 (l. to eventual champion Cuevas), reached his first career ATP World Tour SF in Quito (d. Monfils in QF, l. to Ramos-Vinolas) three weeks ago, but followed that with 1R losses at Buenos Aires (l. to Verdasco) and Rio de Janeiro (l. to Cuevas).

In other opening-round action, Nicolas Kicker of Argentina faces Victor Estrella Burgos of the Dominican Republic; Marco Cecchinato of Italy faces Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner; and #NextGenATP French teenager Corentin Moutet takes on No. 6 seed Guido Pella of Argentina.
