“Work it out between the two of you” Jesus is presen ng us the method for conflict resolu on … and it’s not about applying pressure on the other person un l he or she confesses that they did you wrong. It’s based on winning back your brother or sister. Jesus speaks of “gaining” your broth-

er/sister. It’s about restoring a rela onship, not about wringing jus ce from an enemy by turning up the heat. St. Paul says it very nicely, “Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another.” So, in ma ers of conflict, we ought to begin with that love Paul says we owe each other. He goes on to say that love is bigger than the law, and he was a career Pharisee/lawyer! Here’s the recipe: 1. So someone hurts us. 2. Instead of focusing on retribu on for ourselves,

we’re mo vated by love and concern for the wrong-doer.

3. We speak to them privately. 4. If the wrong con nues, we enlist others … not as

judge and jury … but to plead more persuasively. 5. If that doesn’t work, widen the circle of love, not the

volume of accusa on. 6. If the injurer persists, isola on* is the fi ng re-

sponse to one who fails a rela onship.

*But the intent remains the same: the door stays open to win the person back in the future.

Tomorrow is our na on’s annual Day of Remem-brance; let us not only mourn, but also mend. There’s an awful lot of brokenness in our rela onships with other na ons. But now we know where to start ─ love! The possibili es are endless.

United Way │ Love Life Diaper Drive Beginning Labor Day weekend through October 1st, area churches will be partnering with the United Way to col-lect diapers for infants and toddlers. At our parish, the LOVE LIFE organiza on will directly bene-fit from this collec on. Diaper sizes most needed are: 4, 5, and 6. Watch for the United Way Diaper Drive box in the back of church.

Dear Heavenly Father, for all the children returning to school, send your Holy Spirit as their guide and protector. Keep them free from danger. Put our sons and daughters in the right place, at the right me to receive your grace. Let them learn and grow strong. May the presence of your Spirit fill their hearts. Help us mature as parents and care-givers. Bless every family, oh Lord. We ask this in the name of the greatest Son of all, Jesus Christ. Amen

Mañana nuestro país marca el Día de Conmemoración. Que sea no solo un día de lamento pero también de sanación. Nuestras relaciones con otros países están tan rotas, pero sabemos dónde comenzar ─ ¡el amor! Las posibilidades son infinitas.

Recuerda, el Señor nos llama a ser generosos con todos los dones que Él nos ha dado, para acrecentarlos y devolverlos aumentados.

Colecta de Pañales organizada por United Way │ Amar la Vida A par r del fin de semana del Día del Trabajo hasta el 1º de octubre, iglesias del área se asociarán con United Way para colectar pañales para bebés y niños pequeños. En nuestra parroquia, la organización de Amar la Vida (Love Life) beneficiará directamente de esta colecta. Los tamaños de pañal más necesarios son: 4, 5 y 6. Busque la caja para la Colecta de Pañales United Way en la parte posterior de la iglesia.
