Why is it difficult to over print UV screen with UV flexo?

– UV flexo is ”kiss” printing method

– UV screen inks often containsilicones and flow agents

How does it show?

– Low density of the UV flexo printedon top of UV screen ink

– Pin holing, fish-eyes

– Bad adhesion of the UV flexo ink

Top layer shows excellent over printability with inks and VIP.

Printed with CombiWhite & UV flexo

Lower layer show poor trapping over ”normal” UV screen ink

How do we overcome bad over printability over UV screen inks?

– Add silicones to the printing ink that over prints

How does this effect the print result?

– Higher dot gain on the ink that is over printing

– Difficult to keep negative text open

– Giving problems to hot foil or Thermal Transfer print on top of the over printing ink

– Must add the additive to all inks in the combination!
