ELEVATING THE DISCUSSION RECAPDecember 3, 2010
Overview45 registered attendees joined their colleagues and peers in business, education, social services and government for an open and exploratory discussion on the challenges promoting Diversity & Inclusion at their places of work.
The main part of the day's agenda involved a set of facilitated group discussions on Diversity & Inclusion issues that impact regional businesses, organizations and schools. Core discussion topics were “Roadblocks and Hurdles” and brainstorming “Possibilities & Expectations.”
All information that was discussed in subgroups was then shared with the larger group. Four to five areas of focus became apparent and will allow for future organizers of such events to address identified needs.

One of the main goals of the event was to further the key strategic platforms of the general Metro State College campus as well as its Office of Institutional Diversity: •Campus Four Planning goals:

“The Office of Institutional Diversity seeks to support Metro State's vision for community engagement and service.” •Office of Institutional Diversity 2009 Strategic Plan - Strategy 4:
“Develop internal and external partnerships designed to build the broader community’s commitment and understanding of the diversity and multicultural goals of Metro State.”
