During colonial times what you drank depended on where you lived.

People did not drink water during colonial times because it got dirty and they were afraid they would get sick.

Instead colonists made their own drinks such as:

Beer

Tea

Coffee

Apple cider

During colonial times cooking was not an easy task. The colonists used many tools to cook such as:

A skillet

A spit

A gridiron

A reflector

During colonial times getting food was hard. Some ways in which the colonists got food was by:

Hunting

Planting

Fishing

During colonial times sugar was expensive and not easy to get. Therefore, colonists had to find a replacement to use. Colonists were able to use molasses and maple syrup as replacements! Even though the colonists were not able to use sugar they were still able to make delicious desserts such as:

Apple Tansy

Pastries

Ice cream

Pies

Meal TimeBy : Matar R.

Food was very important to the colonists.

The colonists had three meals Breakfast, Dinner(in other words Lunch) and Supper.

Dinner was the main meal which took place around 2:00 and 3:00 P.M.

Colonists ate with their fingers and used a lot of napkins.

Building a colonial homeBy : Josh H.

During colonial times it took 2-3 months to build a house.

You needed many materials to build a house such as:

Wood

Clay

Earth

Nails and iron hardware (brought from England)

Colonial houses only had one room.

They did everything in that one room such as eat, sleep and relax.

Since there was limited amounts of furniture only parents slept in beds made from straw.

Colonial houses did not have closets or draws so colonists stored their clothing in a loft in the attic.

No Electricity!By: Ariel J.

During colonial times there was no electricity. That means there was no light, running water or heat!

For light they used candles, oil lamps or lanterns.

To get water colonists had to go to the well or lake and put the water in the yoke, which is like a huge jug.

For heat the colonists made a fire in a hearth, which was located in the the fire place,
