Support youth groups (FFA, 4H, Scouts, etc.), agricultural commodity groups (dairy, beef, hogs, grain, tobacco, peanuts, timber, etc.), and farm and rural organizations as they promote their missions through education and research. Enable individuals, corporations, foundations, associations, etc., to participate in the development of their communities through financial contribution. History: Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation, Inc. was established by Colonial Farm Credit to promote education and community enrichment through educational scholarships and support of programs and services offered by community organizations. Since its establishment in 1990, the Foundation has awarded approximately $1.7 million in scholarships. Scholarships: Educational scholarships are awarded to students who are furthering their education through attendance at a college, university, vocational, or trade school. Scholarships are awarded annually to individuals who exhibit an aptitude for learning and a desire for self-improvement through education. Recipients must be of at least college age and reside in one of the cities or counties served by Colonial Farm Credit in central and eastern Virginia and southern Maryland. Other Contributions to the Community: Organizations that provide education and community enrichment are supported financially by the Foundation. Programs and services offered through agricultural commodity organizations and youth organizations such as 4H, FFA, and Scouts are typical of projects the Foundation supports.
