It is the contributions of all staff, each and every day, which leads to the provision of quality education. W e have a great team of staff that are always happy to pitch in and help out wherever needed. Awards Night It was a pleasure to see our talented students being recognised for their achievements on Monday evening 28 th October. I also took this opportunity to acknowledge long serving staff at the school. I congratulate staff who have reached: 10 Years of Service – Mrs Sonia Bennett, Mrs Janelle Bennett, Mr Matt Dobbie, Mrs Jen Fisher and Mrs Pam Hathaway 15 Years of Service – Ms Melinda Daly and Mrs Sue Marshall 30 Years of Service – Mrs Lorna Drinkwater and Mrs Sue Lawn Also the dedicated service of two of our cleaning staff who have retired this year – Mrs Kath Morrissey 34 years, and Mrs Colleen Rowe 23 years. As you can see, our staff are very committed to the school and it is exceptional to see such long term commitment especially for those who have reached over 30 years of service to the school. I wish to acknowledge the partnerships with several industry groups that provide vocational training opportunities for our Yr 11 and 12 students as they complete a range of certificates including Engineering, Hospitality, Childcare, Retail and Business Administration. We thank Glencore, Thiess, Gordon’s Engineering, The Workers Club, Collinsville and Scottville Kindergarten, IGA and Collinsville Real Estate for training our students. Exam Block In the coming week the Year 10 to 12 students will receive their individual letters for their exam timetable. It is important that students are aware of what time their assessment is scheduled and they are at school at least 15mins before the exam starts. It is an important time for the Year 12’s as they complete their final assessment before graduation. For Year 11 it is the end of Unit 2 where only a sound or better result for each subject will be awarded one point towards their QCE. Finally for Year 10, their results will determine which subjects they are able to enter for Year 11. So for all these year levels, there is a high level of importance associated with this exam block. WHAM On Thursday 24 th October, our students experienced WHAM – Wellbeing, Health and More. This was an exceptional day full of activities to expose students to the wide variety of services available in Collinsville to support wellbeing. I thank all the presenters who came to give students an introduction to yoga, the Shape Up shed, boxing and services in the community provided by Community Solutions, Flexicare and other organisations. The Whitsunday Regional Council and Aurizon also promoted safety talks around heavy vehicles and trains. The day ended with a relaxing swim at the pool. Special acknowledgement goes to QCoal and Flexicare for being our major sponsors. Yours sincerely, Anna Reeves Principal
