12 July 2018 Collie on the trail to WA's first Trails Town Collie’s ambition of becoming a nationally significant Trails Town is another step closer thanks to a funding announcement by the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities for a Collie River Trail and Trail Corridor. The Collie River Trail will connect the township of Collie with the beautiful Minninup Pool with a 6.5 kilometrelong, highquality, dualuse trail through stunning bush next to the Collie River. The project includes a trail link between the Coombes Street Bridge and the East End Bridge on both sides of the Collie River funding by the Department of Transport. Motorplex gears up for another upgradeThe Collie Motorplex’s growing reputation as a major motorsport venue was further enhancedyesterday with the Federal Government’s announcement of an additional $764,000 towards Stage 2upgrades at the Motorplex under Building Better Regions Fund.

  The funding will be used to resurface the existing 1.7km section of track and to improve pedestrianmovements to and from the venue. The funding will also resolve power issues in the pit areas whichhave limited the functionality for some events.“This is a fantastic outcome for the Collie region. Stage 2 will complement the current trackextension works which are nearing completion and further improve the Collie Motorplex venue toensure the facility is capable of hosting significant national events.” Shire Chief Executive OfficerDavid Blurton said. Read more

Collie's own seed library set to launchThe Collie Public library in collaboration with Our Community Garden is set to launch their very owncommunity seed library on Wednesday, 18 July.

  The Collie Seed Library will be free and available to all Collie Public Library cardholders and willsupply a variety of free fruit and vegetable seeds for people to grow at home. 

  Users of the seed library will be equipped with the knowledge to plant, grow, and harvest the seedsto be returned for other members to borrow. Read more
