REPORT ON ACTIVITIES OF SPORTS COMMITTEE 2015-2016
(JUNE 2015-SEPT 2015)
1) The sports consists of the following teachers

2) A meeting of all the teacher in charge of sports committee from all the colleges of
University of Mumbai was held on 10th
July 2015 at the University Sports Pavilion at
Marine lines. Mr. Kendre, Director of Physical Education and Sports addressed the
meeting. He oriented all the teachers about the intercollegiate events to be conducted
throughout the year as well as rules and regulations of these sports events.
3) The coordinators of F.Y.BSc, S.Y.BSc and all HOD’s gave a list of student volunteers
interested in participating in sports.
4) The sports core committee was elected on 5th
August 2015. 24 sports committee student
members from F.Y.BSc, S.Y.BSc, T.Y.BSc and M.Sc were present for the meeting and
they actively participated in the elections. 6 students out of them were elected for the
following posts;
1) President- Ms. Paranali Singh T.Y.BSc TFT- 24 Votes
2) Vice-President- Ms. Krutika Nanavati S.Y.BSc- 17 Votes
3) Captain- Ms. Misbah Patel F.Y.BSc- 11 Votes
4) Vice-Captain- Ms. Megha Kochar S.Y.BSc- 12 Votes
5) Secretary- Ms. Rajashree Maity- T.Y.BSc CRM- 16 Votes

The elections went on very smoothly.
5) Indoor Games were conducted on 27th
August 2015 in the college from 2 pm onwards.
Competitions such as Table tennis Singles, Carom singles and doubles and Chess were
conducted. 49 Students actively participated in these events and 10 student volunteers
volunteered. The events were held successfully. 2 winners for each competition were
selected, and they will be felicitated at the Annual Sports Day to be held in December.

(OCT 2015- APRIL 2016)
1) The sports committee along with Trekophy had organized a trek to Tikona Fort on 20th
December 2015 where about 30 students were accompanied by Mrs. Sheetal Joshi. It was an
amazing experience for all the students and they enjoyed it thoroughly.
2) The Annual Sports Day was held on 5th
Jan 2016, at the University Sports Pavilion, Marine
Lines. Events such as 100 mts, 200 mts, 100x4 Relay race, Tug-of war, Short put, Javelin Throw,
Festival A, Walking race, Long jump were held for the students.The event was marked with awe-
inspiring grandeur and opulence, filled with some nail-biting moments. The Staff and Students of
Degree College actively participated in the same. Some games for teaching staff, non-teaching
staff, and support staff were also held. All the staff members actively helped in performing the
duties assigned to them for sports day. The event commenced with a fabulous display of march
past by the degree college team.
The Annual Sports Day was full of fun and enthusiasm and students made it one of the most
memorable events of the year by their participation in different sports events. The food was
highly appreciated by all. A feedback meeting of the annual sports day was held on 11/1/16
where students not only appreciated the annual sports day but also gave lot of suggestions which
can be implemented in the next year.
3) Next year the sports committee plans to have Annual sports day with more events along with
timers for races. Events such as Volley ball and throw ball will also be planned. The sports
committee plans to participate in more inter collegiate games, which are organized by University
of Mumbai. We also plan to train the students for the March Past by calling a professional who
would help them out.

REPORT ON ACTIVITIES OF SPORTS COMMITTEE 2016-2017
(JUNE 2016-SEPT 2016)
1) The sports committee consists of the following teachers

2) All the committee members attended the meeting on 30th
June 2016, where the activities for the
year were planned. Activities such as elections for new sports committee, Indoor games, Sports
Day, Seminar on National Sports Day, Trek etc were planned.
3) A meeting of all the teacher in charge of sports committee from all the colleges of University of
Mumbai was held on 16th
July 2016 at the University Sports Pavilion at Marine lines. Mr.
Kendre, Director of Physical Education and Sports addressed the meeting. He oriented all the
teachers about the intercollegiate events to be conducted throughout the year as well as rules
and regulations of these sports events.

5) The sports committee along with Trekophy had organized a trek to “Kondana Caves”, Karjat
Region on 17th
July 2016, where about 30 students were accompanied by Mrs. Sheetal Joshi. It
was a one day monsoon trek where all the students had an amazing experience and they enjoyed
it thoroughly. In all 32 students were present for the trek.

8) A Feedback meeting of the Indoor games was conducted on 22/8/16. The students gave a very
positive feedback about the indoor games. We observed that compared to last year this year we
had more participation for the games.
9) To commemorate the National sports day the sports committee along with the department of
Food Nutrition and Dietetics organized a seminar on “Commemoration of National Sports Day.”

On 29th
August 2016 in the hall. This day marks the birthday of a great sportsman Major
Dhyanchand, often referred to as “The Wizard” in hockey, who won medals at the Olympics for
India in the year 1928, 1932, 1936. This day is celebrated across many countries in the world. A
small and inspirational video on the few achievements of Dhyanchand was shown to all. Dr.
Antoinette Aroujo, Administrator welcomed everybody on behalf on College of Home Science
Nirmala Niketan. Mrs. Anuradha Mitra, Head of the department of Food Nutrition and Dietetics
gave a welcome speech.
The chief guest for the seminar was Mr. P. Venkatramana, Proprietor of “You too can run Pvt,
Ltd”, a Half Marathon runner and a chartered accountant by qualification. He has been
promoting running for good health. He spoke about the importance of running in life and good
health. He also shared few of his personal experiences on the health benefits of running. His
speech was truly inspirational.
The seminar began with a small and relaxing yoga session for mind and body demonstrated by
the students Msc. II of Sports Nutrition. The audience also actively participated in the same.

Experts in the field of sports as well as nutrition were invited to have a panel discussion.”Life is
a Sport, make it Count”. Ms. Vandita Raval, International Indian Gymnast, Ms. Mihira Khopkar,
National level swimmer and a Sports Nutritionist, Mrs. Himangi Naik, Cricket Coach for MCA
and selector for ladies cricket team, Dr. Geetanjali Bhide, Sports Nutritionist Ph.D. from Army
sports Institute, Ms. Aarti Shah, nutritionist and national level table tennis player were some of
the other speakers. Dr. Shubhadra Mandalika, staff member of FND department was also on the
panel for the discussion.
The seminar continued with an excellent panel discussion. “Life is a Sport make it Count”.which
was conducted by Mrs. Sukhada Bhatte and Mrs. Vibhuti Khedekar. Various questions were
asked to the panelists regarding the importance of sports in day to day life, how has been their
journey as a sports person, how does nutrition help in sports. It was a very interactive session
where the audiences also asked a lot of questions to the panel.
There was a Mini Olympic break, a tournament organized by the students of MSc. I Sports
Nutrition. The tournament consisted a lot of 1 minute games which got thrill and excitement in
the audience.
Ms. Sukhada Bhatte compared the entire program with lot of poise and perfection. Mrs. Vibhuti
Khedekar gave the Vote of Thanks. In all 124 students were present for the seminar.

10) A letter to the University was sent to book the Badminton Court and Sports Ground. The Annual
Athletic meet will be held on 9th
Jan 2017.
(OCT 2016- APRIL 2017)
4) The Indoor games Badminton Tournament was held on 29/11/16. 12 students participated in
Badminton Doubles and 22 students participated in Badminton Singles Competition.
5) New Certificates, medals and trophies were made for the winners of the Indoor Games and
Annual Sports Day.
6) The students of Degree College purchased T- shirts from the college which they had worn during
the Annual Sports Day giving a uniform look to all the sports committee members and
volunteers during the Annual Sports Day.
7) Apart from commemorating victories, sports meets aim at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit
in students. Sports and Athletics have been an integral part of College of Home Science, Nirmala
Niketan. Keeping up the tradition this year too, the Annual Sports Day was held with the same
flamboyant spirit on 9th
Jan 2017, at the University Sports Pavilion, Marine Lines. Events such
as 100 mts, 200 mts, 100x4 Relay race, Tug-of war, Short put, Javelin Throw, Festival A,
Walking race, Long jump were held separately for students. The event commenced with an
opening ceremony with the flag hoisting ceremony along with a fabulous display of March past
synchronized in steps and spirit. The oath was administered by the Student President of the
Degree College. The number of students who participated was 225 students from Degree
College.
The prize distribution ceremony was held where the winners of the sports day were felicitated
with medals and certificates by our Principal, Dr. Geeta Ibrahim as well as the staff of Degree
College.
The Annual Sports Day was full of fun and enthusiasm and students made it one of the most
memorable events of the year by their participation in different sports events.
The event was marked with awe-inspiring grandeur and opulence, filled with some nail-biting
moments. This year sports day witnessed the enthralling performances and hard work put-up by
all our students. Multiple hours of training and strenuous effort taken by the students and staff
was successfully executed. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks given by the Sports
Committee Convenor, Mrs. Vibhuti Khedekar.

6) The sports committee in collaboration with Trekophy had organized a monsoon trek to
Mrughgadh- Bheliv cha Killa situated at Pali region on the outskirts of Mumbai on 6th
August
2017. There were 53 students who actively participated in the trek and were accompanied by the
members of Trekophy Mr. Amol Joshi, Mr. Fransis, Mr. Yadneshand and Ms. Jeniffer. It was an
easy graded trek. All the students had an amazing experience and they enjoyed it thoroughly.

7) A feedback meeting with all students was conducted on 16th
August 2017 to discuss about the
indoor games and the trek to Mrughgadh. Students gave various suggestions regarding the same.
8) A meeting with the Deputy Director of Sports was held on 24th
August , Ms Vibhuti and Ms.
Noella were present for the meeting to discuss about the various grants and funds offered by the
Maharashtra State Government to promote various sports activities.
9) A meeting with the students of sports committee was held on 23rd
August 2017 and 4th
September 2017, to discuss the agenda to celebrate National Sports Day.
10) The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29th
August each year. The Sports
Committee commemorated the National Sports Day on 8th
September 2017. For this event 3
distinguished guests from the field of sports for being a part of the session to share their
experiences with all. The guests were Mr. Vinay Valmiki, one of the brothers from the famous
Hockey Champions Walmiki brothers, Ms. Vineeta Muni, Mountaineers and Trekker and Mr.
Sandeep Solaknki expert from the field of yoga.
The programme began with an introductory talk on National Sports Day, followed by a quiz
conducted by 2 sports committee members Ms. Madhura Walawalkar (TYBSc CRM) and Ms.
Nirali Gogri (TYBSc HD). Ms. Sukhada Bhatte showed a small activity for increasing the
concentration levels of the brain.
Mr. Vinay Walmiki plays in the team of The Mumbai Hockey Association, Mumbai India as
well as on the team of local club named Food Corporation of India (FCI). He shared his
experiences in the field of Hockey as well as explained the importance of hard work and
perseverance. He also shared his experience about his upcoming movie named GOLD with

Criterion V: Student Support and Progression
Akshay Kumar. Mrs. Vineeta Muni is one of the first women in the world to have trekked the
entire length of the Himalayas in 1997. She shared her journey of her life through some amazing
photographs which she herself had captured during her trek to Himalayas. She has walked over
4500 kms across Himalayas, crossing 39 passes over 3000 mts in altitude in a period of 7
months. She along with her husband filmed the ascent of Sujtilla, a technically demanding peak,
by the Indian Navy Team in 2003. The third speaker Mr. Sandeep Solanki gave the importance
of fitness and exercise and yoga in life. He demonstrated a few exercises which can be done on a
chair called as chair yoga. He also shared some tips that students can do in between class and
relax themselves. He also conducted a laughter session at the end explain the importance of
laughter in life. 50 participants, few alumni and 4 staff members were present for the session.
The session ended by a vote of thanks by Ms. Madhura Walawalkar.
11) The sports committee in collaboration with Trekophy had organized a one day trek to
Lohagad (Iron Fort) situated at Lonavala on the outskirts of Mumbai on 10th
September 2017.
There were 15 students who actively participated in the trek and were accompanied by the
members of Trekophy Mr.Amol Joshi. It was arecreational cum educational trek. All the students
had an amazing experience and returned back with fond memories.

November 2017 to discuss aboutactivities and
agenda for Annual Sports Day to be held in January 2018.
3) A meeting with students was held on 29th
November 2017, to discuss printing of T-shirts for
Sports Day, rehearsals for march past and the feedback of the trek to Khanderi Caves.

December 2017 to discuss rules and
regulations and food and medals tally for Annual Sports Day.
5) A meeting with staff and students was held on 2nd
Jan 2018 to discuss about agenda, duties of
Sports Day.
The Annual Sports Day was held on 3rd
Jan 2018, at the University Sports Pavilion, Marine
Lines. Sports day commenced at 9:30am in the morning after breakfast. Degree college and
support staff and many participants and audience were present throughout the day. Events such
as 100 mts, 200 mts, 100x4 Relay race, Tug-of war, Short put, Javelin Throw, Festival A,
Festival B, Walking race, Long jump were held. The event was marked with awe-inspiring
grandeur and opulence, filled with some nail-biting moments. The Staff and Students of Degree
College actively participated in the same.
Ms. Remya Ramaswamy from F.Y.Bsc, Degree College won the “Best Athlete of the year
(Girl)” who remained unbeatable in almost all the events they participated in. The best team of
the year was awarded to Degree College for winning in maximum events. March past could not
be conducted as there were less participants. At the end was lunch for the teachers and volunteers
of sports committee.
Everyone started to disperse at 4pm with congratulating each other with broad smiles, and fresh
precious memories that none would forget. The Annual Sports Day was full of fun and
enthusiasm and students made it one of the most memorable events of the year by their
participation in different sports events.

The sports committee in collaboration with Trekophy had organized a one day trek to Khanderi
Caves near Alibaug on 8th
December 2017. There were 15 students who actively participated in
the trek and were accompanied by the members of Trekophy Mr.Amol Joshi.

REPORT ON ACTIVITIES OF SPORTS COMMITTEE 2018-2019
1) The sports committee consists of the following teachers

2) The coordinators of F.Y.BSc, S.Y.BSc and all HOD’s gave a list of student volunteers
interested in participating in sports.
3) The sports core committee was elected on 14th
July 2018. 23 sports committee student
members from F.Y.BSc, S.Y.BSc, T.Y.BSc and M.Sc were present for the meeting and they
actively participated in the elections. 6 students out of them were elected for the following posts;
President- Priyanka Dedhia (TYBSC CRM)- 11 votes
Vice President- Samruddhi Todkar (TYBSC HD)- 18 Votes
Captain- Rucha Mhatre - (SYBSC)- 14 Votes
Vice-Captain- Zuha Shaikh (FYBSC)- 13 Votes

The elections went on very smoothly.
4) Meetings were held on 1st August and 7
th August to discuss and plan the Indoor Games.
5) Indoor Games were conducted on 9th
and 10th
August 2018 in the college from 2 pm onwards.
Competitions such as Table tennis Singles, Carom singles and doubles and Chess were
conducted. Along with these traditional games this year many interesting and fun loving games
were also planned by the committee both for staff as well as students. These included festival
games such as, skipping, reverse book balance, table tennis ball balance, glass castle,
handkerchief game and balloon blasting game. The events overall received a positive feedback.
200 Students actively participated in these events and 20 student volunteers volunteered. The
events were held successfully. 2 winners for each competition were selected.

6) The Sports committee of Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science in collaboration with
Trekophy, organized the much awaited and tremendously in demand monsoon trek of the year on
19th
August 2018, Sunday to Irshalgad, Panvel on the outskirts of Mumbai. In all 56 students
participated in the trek. Irshalgad had magnificent view over Morli Dam, Chand Chowk and of

the borderlines of Matheran. The overall experience of this trek was extremely memorable. It
was an enriching experience and a superb get away from the concrete jungle. Students’ enjoyed
the beautiful of nature with rain and fog the mesmerizing beauty of the fort as well as admired
the architecture. Every student had enjoyed a lot and were back safe and sound with sweet
memories.
7) A meeting with the students of sports committee was held on 6th
September 2018, to discuss
the agenda to celebrate National Sports Day.
8) The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29th
August each year. Sports is not just
training, it's a culture that needs to be promoted. And there's no better place to do it than at our
schools and colleges that build India's future. Hence the sports committee of College of Home
Science Nirmala Niketan commemorated the National Sports Day on 11th
September 2019, by
playing all the childhood games.
The sports committee volunteers shortlisted the games to be conducted and made all the
necessary arrangements to conduct these games. These games were arranged for all i.e. students,
teaching staff, non teaching staff and support staff so that everyone could relive their childhood
moments. In all 50 students, 12 teaching, 5 non teaching, 6 support staff, participated during this
celebration. They also arranged for prizes for all the winners.
While playing these games we all could recollect with happiness our childhood games and the
gadget free days. There were many nail biting moments throughout the event. It was very well
executed event by the sports committee and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

9) The Sports Committee of College of Home Science Nirmala Niketan organized a one day
Trek to Sarasgadh on 19th
February 2019. The trek was in collaboration with Trekophy. 42
students actively participated in the trek. Sarasgad fort is situated near village Pali in Raigad
district of Maharashtra. It is 1600 ft tall and open to public. It is said that Shivaji Maharaj
brought this fort under Swarajya and spent 2000 Hon (the prevailing currency) for its
reconstruction. The fort consists of a Dargah and Mandir.
10) A meeting with all the teachers was held on 21st January 2019 to discuss about activities and
agenda for Annual Sports Day and also to discuss rules and regulations and food and medals
tally for Annual Sports day to be held on 28th January 2019.
11) A meeting with staff and students was held on 23rd
January 2019 to discuss about, events to
be conducted, duties of Sports Day.
12) A meeting with all student volunteers of degree college was held to brief them about the
Annual Sports day to be held on 28th January 2019.
13) The much awaited Annual Sports Day was held on Monday 28th January 2019, at the
University Sports Pavilion, Marine Lines, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome
atmosphere. This is the day which is most important for the sports committee, the day where they
get an opportunity to prove themselves with all the hard work, unity, and team dedication for the
success of the event.
The events were properly managed by the allotted teachers and student committee members. The
non teaching staff gave a great helping hand in every. Events such as 100 mts, 200 mts, 100x4
Relay race, Tug-of war, Short put, Javelin Throw, Festival A, Festival B, Walking race, Long

jump were held for students. There were events for not only students, but also for support staff
and teachers.
This year there was a lot of participation in every event. This year in all 310 students from all
three sections participated and made the athletic meet a grand success. The best part of the
athletic meet was that an on demand tug-of-war event was conducted for all the students, where
there was a lot of enthusiastic participation. We got 16 on the spot group entries for tug of war
and here also the committee managed the event to their best.
Ms. Ramya Ramaswamy from S.Y.Bsc, Degree College won the “Best Athlete of the year
(Girl)”
