National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program - ArtemisStudent Challenge Opportunities FY2020 – FY2021
The proposal has to be submitted through the FSGC office at UCFand the proposal is due February 10, 2020. Interested facultymay contact Dr. Erica Alston ASAP.
The goal of this solicitation is to invite Space Grant consortiamembers, specifically all 50 states, the District of Columbia, andthe Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, to submit proposals toadvance the quality, relevance, and overall reach of current andfuture Artemis student challenges. With the Artemis Mission,NASA will land the first woman and next man on the Moon by2024, using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunarsurface than ever before. NASA’s OSTEM seeks innovative proposals that will providefoundational learning opportunities to prepare an unprecedented number ofundergraduate/graduate students to learn and engage in Artemis-focused challenges thatalign with the technology needs of the Artemis Mission and/or that will provide the Artemisgeneration new authentic, high-quality student challenge experiences. These efforts will
result in interested undergraduate/graduate students of all skill and readiness levels toprepare for, and then experience, exciting activitieswhile preparing for and directly contributing to NASA’s mission.

Kaggle.com | Open Data Research Grant
Researchers are an important part of Kaggle's communityand we want to expand our support for them through thefirst ever Kaggle Open Data Research Grant. Graduatestudents, PhD candidates, research scientists, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty at accredited universities areall invited to apply for a Kaggle Open Data Research Grant(subject to the Terms). Researchers who receive a grantwill be required to host their data and code on Kaggle whenthey publish their work.
This grant is designed to help facilitate individual research projects which will be publishedin the next six months of the grant being awarded rather than supporting a broaderresearch program. The application will close on January 9, 2020 11:59 PM PST.

The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program honors female scientists at acritical stage in their careers with grants of $60,000 each. Since 2003, we’ve awarded 80postdoctoral women scientists over $4 million in grants. We’re seeking five exceptionalfemale scientists looking to advance their research and serve as role models for the nextgeneration of girls in STEM.

Warning
The US Department of Homeland Security and other officialsources are warning that computing users in the UnitedStates are likely to experience increased levels of cyberdisruption, suspicious emails and network delays in thecoming days. Please be vigilant – as always, be careful about clicking onemail attachments, do not send sensitive information viaemail, do not respond to unsolicited emails from sendersyou do not know, etc. Also, NOW is a very good time to assure your data is backed up. If you store your files inOneDrive, excellent! If you use other means to back up your files, please make sure yourbackups are current. If you need assistance with backups/OneDrive, contact CCS and wewill be glad to help. (And, don’t forget your computers at home – back them up, also!) FSU: Master’s in Four (MI4) Competition
The Graduate School’s Master’s in Four (MI4) Competition is coming up!
Master's students who have earned 18 hours of graduate coursework toward the degreemay compete in the Master's in 4 Competition during which they have four minutes, andfour slides, for them to explain their research to a diverse audience. More informationabout the competition can be found on The Graduate School’s main website here:https://gradschool.fsu.edu/mi4
The preliminary rounds of the competition will be held January 27th - Jan 31st , on thethird floor of the Honors, Scholars and Fellows House in room 3009. The Honors,Scholars, and Fellows House is located at 127 Honors Way.

Coastal and Marine Laboratory Lecture: 'Taking the Pulse of aChanging Planet'
The Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory presents "Taking thePulse of a Changing Planet," a lecture by Robert Spencer, associate professor ofoceanography at FSU. Spencer will examine the carbon cycle in aquatic environmentsand project how human impacts, particularly on land, affect downstream ecosystems.
