DUM is a Dutch label founded in 2008. DUM is different. The main objective of the DUM label is to provide spaces

with distinctive items – to embellish hotel lobbies, workspaces, lounges and waiting rooms with outspoken human

design with a domestic feel. Classics such as the Unkle chair and the Pleat lamps are part of the DUM collection,

but there are also additions with the recognizable DUM-signature like the flexible and playfull Beech Connect

table system and the Shift lamp. DUM is edgy, clean, playful, colourful and considerate.

chitonChiton is a suspension lamp made from hand-pleated cloth. The inspiration for the lamp was found in the classic Greek Chiton dress which is made from one piece of fabric. Our products are manufactured from materials of the highest quality. With utmost care we check the goods before they leave our factory, so the product quality can be guaranteed.

HPL and melamine (tabletops)HPL and Melamine is a material that can withstand scratches and high temperatures. The surface is smooth and non-porous, which makes it hygienic and easy to keep clean. Clean daily with a damp cloth.

Be careful with hot objects. Always use a trivet when hot objects are placed on the blade. Sharp objects can cause scratches. If it is prolonged too close to a heat source, the risk that the warmth penetrates into the underlying mate-rial, which is usually much more sensitive to prolonged heat.

It needs no special care. It’s easy to clean. Never use (liquid) abrasives or scouring pads. Normal, everyday dirt can be removed with a soft, damp cloth. Remove dirt and stains preferably immediately. More stubborn stains and dried-on residue can be removed with a mild detergent solution or usually mild (non-abrasive) household cleaning. When cleaning the mildest possible means should be used. In particular, you should not use products containing abrasives. This will leave scratch marks, or make the material dull. Possible residues of cleaning products removed with clean water, after which the the material is again nice glossy with a dry with a clean cloth.

HPL Arpa Fenix (tabletops)Arpa Fenix is a ‘smart material’ which is designed for interior applications. The unique features of Arpa Fenix are due to the top layer. It features a nanotech coating that ensures that the surface feels silky smooth. It is extremely matt and does not reflect. The color therefore never disappears. Another advantage of this is that there are no fingerprints are visible.The most unusual feature of Arpa Fenix is the ability to repair minor scratches through heat. Please read the enclosed instructions by Arpa Fenix.

Wood products (solid / veneered)No single wooden product is the same. Wood is a natural product and has many features like texture and color which varies per product. Wood will discolor by artificial or sunlight. The wood will always discolour, but this will be the worst when placed in direct sunlight. Also, the timber will always work by change in temperature and humidity, this is inherent to the natural properties of the product. This process will create open joints. In order to minimize this, it is best to maintain a temperature between 15°C and 24°C and an air humidity between 40% and 60%. Place the product not too close to a heat source to avoid cracking of the wood as much as possible.

Use on tables always coasters with felt to prevent damage and discoloration. Never place hot objects directly on your wood product this may cause stains which are impossible to remove. The first two months the paint is not yet fully hardened. Avoid heavy load such as vases.To clean wood and keep it in good condition, we recommend to clean the wood surface with a damp, soft cloth and rub with a soft dry cloth. For cleaning always a clean white cloth.

Upholstered product (fabric)We have selected only for our collections substances of high quality. The characteristics of substance such as rack, pilling, fading and dirt repellency are different for all substances. The fabrics from our collection contain natural fibers may become discolored by artificial or natural light. Cotton fabrics for this are more sensitive than wool fabrics. Gene-rally discolor light fabrics less than dark colors. It is best to direct sunlight on your products to minimize. Perspiration or grease from skin or hair comes into contact with the substance can cause stains, including medication use can cause reactions.Clean the upholstered product preferably only with a damp, clean white cloth and rub never hard about the matter. Furthermore, it is important to clean your upholstered products regularly with the soft nozzle of a vacuum cleaner so that the fabric between the fibers do not accumulate.

It will discolor by artificial or sunlight or by placement near a heater or radiator. Generally lighter colors fade less than dark colors. It is best to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible and not too close to a heat source such as stove, fireplace or radiator places. Shine or dark spots can occur in places where there is a lot of contact. Perspiration or grease from skin or hair comes into contact with the leather can cause stains, use medications can cause reactions.The processed leathers by us are of a high quality. Leather is a natural product and there are always some natural features present. These features emphasize the authenticity of the leather, this can include scarring, structural dif-ferences are insect bites or neck folds.While the use of leather-wrapped products any wrinkles may occur in the leather. This is due to the natural stretch that is present in the leather and can not be prevented.

Pleated fabric (lighting)The Pleat collection is made of pleated clotch. A beautiful and elegant technique. The strength of the pleats can de-crease over the course of time. Generally light fabrics discolor less than dark colors. It is best to avoid direct sunlight on the product as much as possible. Clean up only with a damp, clean white cloth and rub gently.You can clean the product with a soft nozzle of a vacuum cleaner on low suction power or with a gently shake out.

Steel / aluminum (furniture / lighting products)Steel and aluminum have a very robust and tecnical apperance. It does not require special care. It’s easy to clean. Never use (liquid) abrasives or scouring pads. Normal, everyday dirt can be removed with a soft, damp cloth. Re-move dirt and stains preferably immediately. More stubborn stains and dried-on residue can be removed with a wrung microfiber cloth. Use mild soap or usually mild (non-abrasive) household cleaning. No means use products containing abrasives. Make the material spotless with a dry clean cloth .

Wool (carpet)Wool is a warm and natural product and will discolor by artificial or sunlight or by placement near a heater or radiator. Generally lighter colors fade less than dark colors.
