For furniture to take its place in our collection it has to be something never seen before. Something that compels you to keep looking.

It must have originality, vitality and beauty. It must be functional and comfortable. Skilfully made, of the right materials.

It can have been designed in the 1950s or the 2010s, as long as its future is ahead of it.

This is what we call a Swedese classic. Never old, always new.

Swedese was founded in 1945 in Vaggeryd, Sweden, by the brothers Jerker and Yngve Ekström. Yngve was the CEO and creative leader of Swedese for many decades. He designed furniture with the kind of beauty, comfort and style that seems to last forever.

But, most of all, Yngve Ekström was responsible for the Swedese formula – sublime and long-lasting design, produced by skilful crafts-men, developing new techniques and using high quality and natural materials such as wood, linen, sheepskin and steel.

A quarter of a century after Ekström passed away, the original factory and head office is still located in Vaggeryd, and a second production plant in Äng, not far away. However, our designers form a large-spread family, with some of the most famous international designers and interesting new, young colleagues.

Newcomers or classics, the Swedese collection is always about unique design, high-quality materials and innovative technical solutions. To be continued.
