CALLING ALL HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENTS!
Begin Earning Your Community Service Hours Now!
The St. Joseph Music Ministry would like to extend an invitation to Confirmation students and to ALL high school students who like to sing or play an instrument, to consider participating in our Young Adult Music Group, "The Messengers", at the 10AM Mass on Sunday mornings.
Rehearsals are on Thursday afternoons from 4PM to 5:30PM in the upper church. The group also meets for a warm-up/rehearsal at 9:30AM on Sunday mornings, prior to Mass (for those who are interested, there is a light breakfast in the outer room of the choir loft from 9AM to 9:30AM!).
Students receive Community Service hours in consideration of their participation in the music ministry. A number of students who joined us in previous years enjoyed their experience so much that they decided to become regular members of the group!
If you would like to take part, or if you should have any questions, please contact Betsy Pesce, Music Director, at 781-396-0423 ×125 (office) or 617-335-8155 (cell) or e-mail [email protected].

Special Collection this Weekend
to Benefit Vicariate of Bomadi
There will be a second collection this weekend to benefit Father Emmanuel’s Vicariate in Nigeria. The vicariate’s population is 3,000,000 people, living in poverty
and facing difficult circumstances such as poor water quality, illiteracy, limited access to medicine and food. Your support to this collection will help Bishop Hyacinth. O. Egbebo, Apostolic Vicar, with two important projects: providing safe drinking water and building Nursery/Primary Schools.
Please make your donation checks payable to St. Francis or St. Joseph’s parish and
place them in the collection basket at Mass. Together we can help make a difference in the lives of those in need. And, we can show Father Emmanuel our gratitude for his ministry in our parishes. Thank you for your generosity!

Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
The music ministry invites you to join us on Sunday afternoon, October 22nd, 2017, at 2PM in the upper church, for our St. Joseph Parish Annual Concert. Both our Adult and Youth Choirs and The Messengers (our young adult music group) will perform, and there will be an opportunity for the audience to join with us in singing!
This year's program is entitled "Singing the Seasons", and is being dedicated in loving memory of Reverend Edward F. ("Fr. Ed") Doughty and Anna M. Scully, whom we lost this past year, and a portion of the proceeds from our concert program ad book will be donated to The Marine Corps Scholarship Fund and St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
There will be a luncheon in the social center following the concert, catered by Carroll's Restaurant in Medford
(kindness of parishioner, Attorney Victor Garo). Please note: when you arrive for the concert, you will receive a voucher which will enable you to attend the luncheon.
We urge you to take this opportunity to come and join our choirs and instrumentalists in a prayerful and
playful musical celebration! For more information, please e-mail Betsy at [email protected] or call 781-396-0423 x125 (office) or 617-335-8155 (cell).
SAVE THE DATE!
St. Joseph Parish Annual Parish Concert
Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2 P.M.
The Music Ministry Would Be Honored…
...if you would consider supporting our ministry by placing an ad in our upcoming annual parish concert program. As you may know, our concert is scheduled for Sunday, October 22nd, at 2pm. This year’s program is being dedicated in loving memory of Reverend Edward F. ("Fr. Ed") Doughty and Anna M. Scully, whom we lost this past year, and will consist of a varied program of sacred, classical and popular selections. A portion of the proceeds of our concert program ad book will be donated to "The Marine Corps Scholarship Fund" and "St Jude Children's Research Hospital ".
We have many options to choose from: Back Cover (5 ½” x 8 ½”) $250 Half Page (5 ½” x 4 ¼”) $60 Full Page (5 ½” x 8 ½”) $100 One-Third Page (5 ½” x 2 7/8”) $45
(If you are honoring a loved one's birthday, or anniversary, etc., and would like to include a photo, the ad would need to be at least 1/2 page to be most effective. We also encourage you to "act quickly(!)", as some folks were disappointed last year, because by the time they responded, the program book was full).
You can send your ad copy and payment or individual donation (checks made out to St. Joseph Parish) directly to Betsy Pesce, Music and Liturgy Director, c/o of the rectory, at 114 High Street. We would be most grateful for your support in this very special parish event, and thank in advance for your consideration.
