1 Dholya Ganapati

Dholya Ganapati is a temple dedicated toLord Ganesha. It was built in 17th Centuryaccording to Hemadpanti architecture bythe ruler of that time, Raja Bhoja, to protectthe Wai town from any calamity or enemies.Lord Ganesha has an immense importancein Maharashtra and this Ganapati temple isreally famous for the huge statue of LordGanesha at the banks of River Krishna. Thename of the temple 'Dholya Ganapati' isderived because of the size of the deity'sstatue which is 10 ft tall and 8 ft in width andthe word 'Dholya' means huge or fat inMarathi language.

One of the nicest drives is to Tableland,Panchgani’s crowning glory. A vast, flatplateau, this region stretches far beyondwhat the eye can see and offers the mostspectacular view of Panchgani’s pretty,colourful rooftops against the hillybackdrop. During peak season there isplenty of fun for children up here in theform of a ferris wheel, a toy train, pony andhorse rides and many games stalls. 4 Mahabaleshwar Temple

The Mahabali or Mahabaleshwar Temple isanother example of the Maratha heritage ofMahabaleshwar. Built by the Chanda RaoMore dynasty in the 16th century, thetemple is built in the South IndianHemadanta style of architecture.
The temple is enclosed by a 5 feet wall and
is divided into two areas, the inner andouter rooms. The inner room or thesanctum sanctorum has Shiva as itspresiding deity, with a black stone lingam(stone incarnation of Lord Shiva) as itscentral figure. You'll find several carvings ofShiva's vehicle, the sacred bull andKalbairav, his bodyguard. The temple alsohouses Shiva's bed, damru and trishul,dating back 300 years. Legend has it that thebed used to be crumpled in the morning,indicating Shiva's presence during the nightat the temple. An important temple on anyShiv-bhakt's pilgrimage plan, this temple hasa serene, tranquil ambience that willtransport you to higher realms ofspirituality.The main draw is the ancientMahabaleshwara Temple with its 6-foot-talllinga, of which only the tip can be seen.
