The most common cause of accidents on icelandic roads is the wind - it can be so strong, vehicles simply get blown off.

After completing the tourist “The Golden Circle “ we came across our fi rst close up of the notorious icelandic off road-ers, who were just re infl ating their tyres after a trip onto a glacier. Enquiring how the day had gone, one driver replied “ Yah, today is a good day on the glacier......nobody gets lost”.
